Thu Ngoc started up her own business with a small amount of money and a “can-do” spirit, talented and willing to try new things. She was inspired by her interest in manufacturing natural cosmetics and is now admired by many.
Be determined to pursue her aspirations
Thu Ngoc graduated in Auditing from Duy Tan University but, instead of applying for job like her classmates, she decided to start and grow her handmade, natural cosmetics company, with significant success.
She said: “I attended a handmade lipstick-making course in Hanoi when I was a second-year student. Afterwards, I spent time researching more information about this. Then I tried making homemade lipstick for my friends and received positive feedback. This built up my confidence and motivated me to start up my own company, named 'Thu Ngoc Natural Gac Fruit Lipstick', based in Danang”.

Using oils extracted from Gac fruit and coconut, Thu Ngoc lipstick does not contain lead or any other harmful substances, is safe for everyone, including pregnant women, and its ingredients are readily available throughout Vietnam.
Starting a business with three hundred-thousand dong
Over the past four years, Thu Ngoc has opened branch offices across the country and also invested in trading the materials used in lipstick manufacturing.
To achieve success, she had to overcome several challenges and obstacles. When she was a second-year student, she spent all her savings of three hundred-thousand dong buying materials. Then she only sold her lipstick to friends and acquaintances because, at that time, not many people had heard of homemade cosmetics. Gradually, her product became quite well-known, because of its high quality.
Thu Ngoc really wants to talk about her startup experiences. She said: “Initially, I was confused by the large number of career choices I had on graduation but quickly decided to turn my startup dream into reality. Once we are determined to pursue our desires, we overcome all challenges and succeed. We are only young once, so we should strive for our dreams now.”
Thu Ngoc continues perfecting her products to grow her business and organizes courses on how to make homemade lipstick in Pleiku. She is also expanding her business into South Vietnam, so Thu Ngoc Lipstick will soon become even more popular.
