DTU Students Gain Significant Achievements in 2016 Mathematical Olympiad

DTU students won four third prizes in the 24th National Mathematical Olympiad, hosted at Quy Nhon University in Binh Dinh province, from April 11th to 17th.

One thousand contestants from 82 universities and colleges and 12 high schools nationwide competed in Analytics and Algebra. Nguyen Hoang Vu, Nguyen Trieu Vy and Tran Cong Minh won prizes in Analytics and Nguyen Manh Cuong in Algebra.

Nguyen Trieu Vy of the DTU International School said: “The DTU Board allowed us to train with some leading local and international lecturers. We were able study and share ideas with people with a passion for Mathematics. They broadened our outlook, taught us how to think and how to apply that knowledge in everyday lives.”

The four winners also have impressive high school graduation records, with scores between 24 and 26.5. In the 2015 enrollment session, Nguyen Trieu Vy and Tran Cong Minh were awarded full DTU scholarships worth 800 million VND each.

Nguyen Trieu Vy said: “At first, I intended to enroll in IT at a public university in Danang. However, I decided to study IT at DTU as soon as I found out about the advanced Carnegie Mellon program, which will be perfect in preparing myself for my future career.”
