Distinguished Teacher Le Cong Co, DTU President and Provost, received the title “Hero of Labor” in the Renewal period. He was the first academic in the private higher education sector in Vietnam to be honored with the award.

In February, State President Truong Tan Sang signed Decision No 296 to award Distinguished Teacher Le Cong Co, DTU President and Provost, the Title of Hero of Labor in the Renewal period. DTU is at present one of the six best private universities in Vietnam.
In 1994, Distinguished Teacher Le Cong Co pioneered to found the first private university in the Central Region. Since its establishment, over 70,000 research, postgraduate, bachelor, and vocational students have enrolled. 2 PhD courses, 4 masters, 20 academic bachelors with 43 specializations, and 11 associate bachelors have been offered.
Over the years, DTU has collaborated with many well-known universities and institutions worldwide, such as Carnegie Mellon University which is one of the four strongest universities in the US in the field of IT.
Distinguished Teacher Le Cong Co is known for his significant contributions to the higher education sector. Also, he had played an important role in some revolutionary movements in the South of Vietnam by 1975.
He was Member of the National assembly of the 8th Party Congress and Delegate of the Quang Nam Da Nang People’s Council from 1987 to 1992.
