The Department of Technology and Training of the Ministry of Health and DTU hosted a training course on researching and writing papers in English from December 11th to 12th, in support of staff and lecturers in the Central region. One hundred members of DTU, the Danang Technical University of Medicine and Pharmacy, the Danang C Hospital, the Family Hospital, the 199 Military Hospital, the Nha Trang Pasteur Institute, the Institute of Vaccines and Medical Biology and the National Institute of Malariology, Parasitology and Entomology attended.
Associate Professor Ngo Van Toan, Department Head of Scientific and Technological Management at the Hanoi University of Medicine, stated that every research paper published reflected the aspirations, dedication and new achievements of each scientist. The training course would therefore focus on sharing experiences in research and publication in the fields of Medicine and Pharmacology, in order to improve their quality.
The training course presented ways of planning research, rules of clinical practice, moral standards, statistical notations widely used in medical analysis, the selection of appropriate statistical tests for particular analyses, the analysis of results and how to write a research document

Associate Professor Nguyen Ngoc Minh, DTU Vice-Provost, said: “Scientists are used to preparing research papers but it is still difficult for them to write papers in English. We now need to begin writing them in accordance with international standards. We continue to provide the proper research guidance to our lecturers and students of Medicine and Pharmacology, which is vital in their future studies and research.”
DTU education is diversified and provides students with many study options. The following degrees are offered: a PhD in two majors; a Master’s degree in four majors; a Bachelor’s degree in 38 subjects; and an Associate Bachelor’s degree in 16 subjects. The university has two research institutes and members of the DTU Institute for Research and Development have published more than 100 papers in national and international magazines, including ISI-indexed journals.
Many international conferences have been hosted at DTU so far, including “IT Applications in Medical Sciences Conference”, “The Scientific Research Method Training Course. “The Inspection, Study, Sponsorship, Usage and Sustainable Development of Medicinal Herbs in Mountainous Areas of the Central Highlands”; and “Resources of Essential Oils in Vietnam” conference will be held in December 2015.
