With their clever, innovative solutions, DTU Information Technology students have won prizes in competitions worldwide.
They finished third in the finals of the 2014 Student Information Security Contest. This year, three students, Vo Viet Tung, Nguyen Tan Phat and Tran Nhu Minh, one of the two Vietnamese teams, entered the finals of the “2015 Cyber Sea Game”, on November 11th in Indonesia.
The event was regarded as the regional finals of the Student Information Security competition, which tested their knowledge on a wide range of security topics, including Forensics, Reverse Engineering, Computer Network Defense-Hardening and Penetration Testing. This allowed all the ASEAN students to demonstrate their technical and creative skills. Earning 1,000 points, DTU overtook other strong teams from Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia and Brunei to finish 6th.

The finals of the contest took place at the University of Information Technology at Vietnam National University in HCMC on November 14th and demonstrated the significant strengths of IT talent nationwide. The ISIT-DTU team, the only one from the Central Region, came 4th in the contest, behind two teams from Vietnam National University in HCMC and one team from Vietnam National University in Hanoi.
As the only participants in central region, and from a private university with four consecutive years entering the finals, DTU teams have proven their abilities in important IT contests. With 833 points, the ISIT - DTU team beat strong teams from the North, including the Night Elves from the Hanoi University of Technology and Science and the 0xb0b0 team from the Postal and Telecommunications Institute of Technology.
Vo Viet Tung, of the K18 TMT IT class, who has taken part in two Information Security competitions, said: “Every IT competition, national or international, has its own characteristics and challenges. Generally speaking, IT experts have a broad knowledge of Cyber Security. With the dedicated support of Mr. Nguyen Kim Tuan and other DTU lecturers, our team has worked hard to keep winning big prizes”.
