Nguyen Thi Thanh scored 28.25 in on her 2015 National Finals exam, graduated from the Le Thanh Tong High School for the Gifted in Hoi An in Quang Nam and chose to enroll at DTU, a private university in Danang. 

 

This year there have been many high-scoring applicants applying to DTU in various majors. These include Nguyen Thi Le, in Business Administration, with 27.0, Vo Thi Tam in Software Engineering, with 25.5, Pham Minh Anh, in Doctorate of Medicine, with 24.25 and Nguyen Thi Nhu Ngoc, in Literature-Journalism, with 25.5.

 

Each student had their own reason for enrolling at DTU. 

* Nguyen Thi Thanh (Group C with a score of 28.25)

Nguyen Thi Thanh, who graduated from the Le Thanh Tong High School for the Gifted in Hoi An in Quang Nam and had highest entry score of 28.25 for Literature, History and Geography, enrolled in DTU. At high school, she won a first and a third prize in the provincial Geography competition. With such an impressive score, she was awarded a full scholarship of 800 million VND for the Upper Iowa University and DTU On-Site Study-Abroad program, where graduates are conferred joint diplomas from DTU and UIU. Asked why she chose DTU, Nguyen Thi Thanh responded: “I decided to apply after my teachers at Le Thanh Tong High school for the Gifted told me about the DTU On-Site Study-Abroad program. I reseached further information on the internet about the quality of the program and job opportunities. I think that choosing the best study program is more important than deciding whether to sudy at a private or public university. Fortunately, my entry score made me eligible for a full scholarship to enroll in the Upper Iowa University and DTU On-Site Study- Abroad program.”

* Nguyen Thi Le (Group A: 27)

Since her first days at school and coming from a poor family, Nguyen Thi Le always kept in mind the words of her teacher, who told her that the only way out of poverty was through diligent study. She has worked hard and won a consolation prize in the provincial Chemistry competition in 2014 -2015. She scored 27.0 in the National Finals exam and arrived at DTU by chance with her friends and heard about the DTU On-Site Study-Abroad program and its preferential scholarship policies. She immediately applied in DTU and received a full scholarship.  

* Vo Thi Tam (Group A: 25.5)

 

Vo Thi Tam always focused on her first choice of university, which was DTU. She said: “I carefully researched the DTU programs and the quality of the IT program. The international partnership with Carnegie Mellon University, one of the four leading IT universities in the US, offers advanced courses in Software Engineering, Information Systems and Network Security. I know some DTU alumni who studied this program, won national and international IT contests and were offered jobs immediately they graduated. Some of them already hold high positions at well-known local companies.” 

* Pham Minh Anh (Group B: 24.25)

Coming from a successful family, Pham Minh Anh wants to be a doctor like his parents. He has just signed up for the Doctorate of Medicine program at DTU. Minh Anh said: “In order to access the most modern medical techniques in the world, I want to pursue advanced studies abroad. I am very impressed with the investment that DTU has made in the General Practitioner program. They have collaborated with the University of Illinois in Chicago and the University of Pittsburgh to develop an advanced study program, all in English. We will dedicate time initially to learn the English language and natural sciences in English as a foundation.”

* Nguyen Thi Nhu Ngoc (Group C: 25.5)

Scoring 25.5 in Literature, History and Geography, Nguyen Thi Nhu Ngoc was eligble to study Journalism at many universities nationwide, however, she chose DTU for her higher education as she learnt about DTU’s scholarship and tuition fee incentives for students in Social Sciences and Humanities, including the policy of reducing the fee by 50% for all four years. When she was at high school, she used to repair clothing and made raincoats to earn money for her education and family. The tuition fee incentives have helped relieve her parents’ concern in financial burden. “Studying at DTU, I hope to make my dream of being a skilled journalist come true”
