At the end of the first stage of the 2015 enrollment, Nguyen Thi Thanh, with a score of 28.25 on her 2015 National Finals exam, entered DTU, her first choice of university.

Nguyen Thi Thanh received a full scholarship under UIU’s On-Site Study-Abroad program. Many new academic programs, such as the Doctor of Medicine, Economic Law, Construction Management, and Natural Resource Management courses have made DTU the first choice of university for many new applicants.
Nguyen Thi Thanh, who studied at the Le Thanh Tong High School for the Gifted in Hoi An, made a strong impression with her excellent academic record. She won second prize in the provincial Geography competition in 2013 and first prize in 2014. She was also awarded two gold medals in Geography in the 30/4 Traditional Olympiad Competition for high school students two years in a row, in 2013 and 2014. She was always top of her class at high school.
Nguyen Thi Thanh said: “I am good at Geography and I love natural sciences. So, right after I was recommended by my teacher to major in Financial Management in the UIU On-Site Study-Abroad program at DTU, I spent some time learning about it. Now I feel quite secure with my decision in choosing DTU, as I know about the program and job opportunities available on graduation. I am delighted to receive a full scholarship from the UIU On-Site Study-Abroad program, where I can obtain an American degree at home here in Danang.”

After signing an agreement in late 2014, Upper Iowa University and DTU officially opened the Upper Iowa Representative Office and On-Site Study-Abroad program at the DTU Nguyen Van Linh campus and welcomed the first students in 2015. Programs are offered in Business Administration, Financial Management, Information Technology and Information Systems. Students will study a full four years at DTU and receive an American degree from UIU. They will be taught solely in English, with over 60% of the lecturers from UIU and the remainder from Vietnam or abroad. During the program students will spend a “Discovery Semester” studying in the US, Hong Kong or Malaysia. They will be able to improve their English and explore different cultures.
Students will study in Vietnam and receive a US degree, with North Central Regional Accreditation, which is the highest American all-school accreditation system. So far, Nguyen Thi Thanh has become the student with the highest score to enroll in On-Site Study-Abroad program, together with many other candidates with a score of over 20.
Students who are granted a full scholarship, worth approximately 800 million dong, must have a score of at least 24. A discount of 40 to 90% of the tuition fee is given for those with a score of 21 to 23.5. At present, there are more than ten students who have won full or partial scholarships. Opportunities are still available for other candidates who wish to enroll in DTU as their second choice of university for this unique On-Site-Study-Abroad program.
