As well as continuing academic programs that have always been popular, such as IT, Construction, Architecture, Business Management, Accountancy, Hospitality and Tourism and others, in 2015 DTU will add some new ones, in Doctor of Medicine, Construction Management, Economic Law and Natural Resource Management.
DTU organizes academic activities in a state-of- the-art study environment.
With its educational ability and modern facilities, DTU will continue to satisfy needs to improve the national workforce in several fields. This year, the Ministry of Education and Training has authorized DTU to offer new disciplines in Medicine, Construction Management, Economic Law and Natural Resource Management. In preparation for this and in keeping its motto “We Do Everything for Student Rights and Future Careers”, DTU has worked hard to improve the quality of its lecturers and to construct a modern infrastructure, prior to announcing the new courses. In these new disciplines, DTU will employ lecturers who are Associate Professors, PhDs or hold Master’s degrees. The majority of them are graduates from reputable universities in Vietnam and overseas. To meet the increasing demands in education and research, the university provides the most advanced studying facilities, with 1,200 internet computers, e-libraries such as Vista, Springer and ProQuest, well-equipped laboratories and two large libraries with a large variety of thousands of books.
Over the years, DTU has partnered with universities in America and other countries. For program in Medicine, DTU is collaborating with two American universities, the University of Illinois in Chicago and Pittsburgh University. DTU is also partnering with eighteen local hospitals. Students will be able to work with patients at the Danang C Hospital, the 17thMilitary Zone Hospital, the 199th Hospital of the Ministry of Public Security, the Quang Nam General hospital and others. The Family Hospital is the leading hospital for internships.
The new Construction Management program is based on the long-term collaboration with California State University (CSU) Fullerton and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, well-known for its education in construction and architecture. Advanced programs will be offered in Architecture and Construction. Students of Construction Management Engineering will be able to access to the latest information through the advanced library system at DTU and learn about the latest techniques used in construction companies in Vietnam and internationally.
Courses in Economic Law, Natural Resources and Environmental Management will enhance the educational reputation that the faculties of Environment, Humanities and Social Sciences have built up over the years. Taught by legal experts from government agencies in Danang, students will be able work on internships in local law offices and courts. Students of Natural Resource and Environmental Management will be offered internships at research institutes and NGOs that deal in natural resource management and environmental protection. They will also participate in ten environmental projects annually, in conjunction with Singapore Polytechnic.
Dr. Le Nguyen Bao said: “By offering these new programs in 2015, we will provide our community with additional, highly-qualified graduates. Recently, the percentage of DTU graduates finding jobs within 6 months was 89%. This confirms that DTU is moving in the right direction. Putting education quality first, DTU has drawn up specific plans and practical educational goals for the new majors. To ensure the quality of education, DTU will select only fifty applicants this year, in keeping with our social responsibility in the future of local education.”
