Over the past 20 years of development, Duy Tan University has accomplished many of its objectives, including the establishment of several international partnerships to improve the standard of education.
Advanced Study-abroad and On-Site Study-abroad programs mark a new stage in the development of long-lasting international partnerships with renowned universities in America and worldwide.
DTU collaborates with universities in the US and UK to deploy advanced programs
In 2007, these programs originated with academic programs in partnership with Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), one of the top American universities in Information Technology, with the exchange of international-standard curricula in the fields of Software Engineering, Information Systems and Network Security.
In 2010, DTU began another partnership with Pennsylvania State University (PSU), one of the largest public universities in the US, to offer Business Management, Accounting, Finance and Banking and Tourism and Hospitality courses. A year later, DTU deployed the first advanced programs in Architecture and Construction in Central Vietnam, in conjunction with California State University (CSU) Fullerton and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, two of the leading universities on the West Coast. DTU students will be able to earn from 18 to 24 Completion Certificates and all courses will be taught by Americans.
DTU students win awards in national and international competitions
As well as helping students to access the latest information and advanced teaching methods, students will be able to study for an American degree at reasonable cost, without leaving their family and friends. In late 2014, DTU signed a collaboration agreement with Upper Iowa University to offer an On-Site Study-Abroad program (4+0) at DTU, with the American-accredited degrees conferred by UIU. Most subjects will be taught in English. Sixty-percent of the courses will be taught by lecturers from UIU and the remaining forty-percent by English-speaking visiting lecturers at DTU.
Over the years, DTU has gained significant achievements in the deployment of study-abroad programs, such as the 1+1+2 program with Lorain County Community College, the 2+2 programs with Purdue University, one of the leading technology universities, and Appalachian State University and Medaille College, as well as a 3+1 program with Coventry University in the UK.
Under the instruction of Vietnamese and foreign lecturers, in a dynamic study environment, DTU students of these advanced programs have won valuable awards in national and international competitions, including the 2013 CDIO Cup at Harvard University and MIT. In Taiwan, they won the Champions Cup at the 2014 Asia Pacific IDEERS Contest with their paper “The Design of Earthquake Resistant Buildings”, and Tran Anh Tuan, from the IT faculty, won first prize in the 2015 Computer Fireworks Competition. Nguyen Thu Quynh won a Distinguished Award for the best female Vietnamese IT students in 2012 and Dang Xuan Nam won first prize in the Loa Thanh Tournament in Construction and Architecture in 2011.
Dr. Nguyen Huu Phu, DTU Vice-provost, said: “With our high-quality international academic programs, DTU is making significant improvements in the training a new generation of well-rounded students and providing them with the best environment in preparation for their future careers. UIU has opened a representative office at DTU to introduce the On-Site Study-Abroad in June, strengthening DTU’s reputation in international partnerships in our nation’s education system.”
