DTU Ranks Sixth in the Top 10 Universities in Vietnam

DTU ranks sixth in the Top 10 Universities in Vietnam

Every six months, Webometrics ranks universities based on their web presence and impact. Their original objective was to promote online publication to promote Open Access initiatives, access to scientific publications and other academic materials. However, web statistics are very useful for ranking purposes too, as they are not only based on the number of visits or on page design but also on the global performance and visibility of the universities.

Experts agree that, due to the lack of academic papers published in high profile international journals, Vietnamese universities are ranked lower. Of the 23,887 educational institutions participating worldwide, Vietnam National University ranked 894th and was the only university of Vietnam in the top 1,000.

The Top 10 universities ranked in Vietnam and worldwide are:

1- Vietnam National University Hanoi (894th worldwide)
2- Can Tho University (1,790th worldwide)
3- The Hanoi National University of Education (2,154thworldwide)
4- The University of Danang (2,222nd worldwide)
5- The Ho Chi Minh University of Agriculture and Forestry (2,781st worldwide)
6- Duy Tan University (3,008th worldwide)
7- Hue University (3,253rd worldwide)
8- Ho Minh University of Technology (3,279th worldwide)
9- The International National University in Ho Chi Minh City (3,527th worldwide)
10- Vietnam National University in Ho Chi Minh City (3,536 worldwide)

In the Asia Pacific region, Vietnam National University was ranked 212th, Can Tho University 551st, and the Hanoi National University of Education 699th. The Top 10 universities were Taiwan National University, the University of Beijing, Tsinghua University, Seoul National University, the University of Tokyo, Zhejiang University, the University of Melbourne, the University of Hong Kong, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the University of New South Wales.

In South East Asia, the National University of Singapore took the lead, followed by Kesetsart University (Thailand), Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), Mahidol University (Thailand),Putra University Putra (Malaysia), Chulalongkorn University (Thailand), Chiang Mai University (Thailand), the University of Gadjah Mada (Indonesia), and the University of Technology (Malaysia). Vietnam National University was ranked 20th, Can Tho University 51st, Hanoi National University of Education 66th and the University of Danang 68th.
