Over the past twenty years, DTU has established many “firsts”. It is the first and largest private university in Central Vietnam, founded under the Legal Decision No.666/TTg of the Prime Minister of Vietnam on November 11th 1994). The DTU Board of Provosts, led by Distinguished Teacher Le Cong Co, closely cooperated with many national and international institutions and agencies to construct the first campus located at 21 Nguyen Van Linh Street in Danang, in November 1997. Today, DTU has seven well-equipped campuses, with a total area over 35 hectares, with buildings over a total of 58 thousand square meters. The university has equipped seventy laboratories, published thirteen thousand papers for their libraries and posted fifty-nine thousand articles online. The university is equipped with over one thousand computers and modern facilities to serve the educational and research needs of lecturers and students.

DTU’s significant awards over the past twenty years include a Class 3 Labour Medal, Government Recognition Awards two years in a row, 2010/11, a MOET Emulation Banner three years in row, 2010 to 2012, a Vietnamese Brand Gold Cup in 2005 and one hundred and sixty-six national and eight international awards.

Duy Tan University has developed a team of lecturers which has grown quickly in both quantity and quality. There are now 925 staff members, 697 of whom are full-time lecturers. Fourteen percent are professors, associate professors or PhDs, seventy-two percent hold Master’s degrees and carry eighty to ninety percent of the teaching load. In addition, the university has hosted over two hundred visiting lecturers from well-known national and foreign universities.

In line with improving the quality of education, the DTU faculty performs research projects and has published one hundred and forty-five papers at conferences worldwide. Two hundred and eighty-eight were published in special journals, and sixty-four on ISI. DTU was the first private university to win a contract to conduct research in Information Technology at the Ministry level. Our researchers are conducting six Nafosted projects in the fields of Electronics, Biology, Pharmacology, Physics, Photonics and others in collaboration with institutions in the UK, the USA and Germany. DTU has already hosted several national and international conferences in various fields.

DTU offered its first Doctoral course in 2014 and has eleven Master’s courses with over twelve hundred students and twenty undergraduate courses with sixty-four thousand students enrolling so far. Eighty-nine percent of DTU graduates find jobs within six months, with one hundred percent of the Software Engineering students being hired immediately.

Along with the development of its internal resources, Duy Tan University has been expanding its international relations to improve the quality of education. In 2008, DTU signed an agreement for the licensing of the Software Engineering and Information Systems curricula of Carnegie Mellon University, the leading IT University in America. In 2010, DTU collaborated with Pennsylvania State University, one of the five biggest public university systems in America, to use their world-class Business Administration and Hospitality and Tourism programs. Recently, DTU partnered with California State University in Fullerton, one of the leading public universities on the West Coast, in Construction and Architecture. By enrolling in this course, students can study the internationally-standardized Construction and Architecture programs for only $800 per year, or 16 million dong. This is the first international academic program in Civil Engineering and Architecture in Central Vietnam. DTU also offers seven articulation and dual-degree programs to equip future generations of students with the spirit and skills to assist in the development of Vietnam.
