Fresh bouquets, joyful smiles, handshakes full of gratitude between lecturers and students meeting again after so many years - all contributed to the warm atmosphere of the welcome DTU organized from November 7th to 15th, 2014 for its alumni, running up to its 20th Anniversary. Alumni of all DTU faculties had some memorable moments with their teachers and friends to share the study and work experiences that led to their current success.

Distinguised Teacher Le Cong Co, DTU President and Provost, said: “The past 20 years, many classes of DTU graduates succeeded in constructing noteworthy careers and attained many achievements in work and life. It is precious to me that, even when very busy with their work, DTU alumni keep in touch with the university and participate in the event. Through many years of being professionally active, our alumni acquired practical life and career experience, and therefore it is the hope of our university to hear your opinions and suggestions during this meeting, to further develop our curricula and activities. The last 20 years, with the motto of education linked with applied research based on Humanities and Innovation, DTU has been striving to improve education and to increase international integration. We are currently implementing high-quality Master and PhD programs and we always welcome our alumni back for further studies to increase their knowledge or to work here at the university.”
At the meeting of the Information Technology alumni, Gameloft representatives awarded three scholarships worth 6 million VND to the three most outstanding students in the academic year 2013-2014. The IT faculty furthermore also kicked off the “Whole leaves wrap torn leaves”study encouragement movement, aimed at supporting students who come from poor families get ahead in their studies.
Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality alumni having an exchange with its current students
The Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality also had the honor to receive many alumni with nice achievements in many sectors related to Hospitality or other service branches. They are Ms. Le Nguyen Bao Ly, executive manager of Vietnam Travel Mart; Mr Le Phi Long, founder and executive at Huyen Thoai Viet; Mrs Khong Thi Bich Ngoc, Director of Hung Thong Ltd. and many more. “Every time we return, we are very surprised and proud at the development and growth of DTU” said Tran Kim Tho, HR Assistant Manager at Thuong mai Quang Nam - Da Nang company at the meeting. “To succeed, one needs persistence and I would like to share my own experiences. Apart from studying in class and over your books, practical and training lessons will provide you with really useful knowledge and practical skills. As long as you remain confident, passionate, and committed to this passion, you will do your work best.”
Nearly a hundred alumni of the International School created a merry and excited atmosphere at their meeting on the morning of November 9th, 2014. Almost all of them found an employment befitting their major, at large companies such as Vietcom Bank, Agribank, Enclave, and FPT. Nguyen Phu Phuc, alumnus and Vietnam Bank Credit officer, said: “On behalf of the alumni of the International School, I wish to express my thanks and wish good health to all teachers in the school in particular and of the university in general. Many businesses judge DTU students to be very dynamic, with professional competence and good foreign language skills. The knowledge and skills we acquire during our time at DTU are very useful for our curent jobs. We feel confident to take on the challenges of the current competitive job market. This can be ascribed to the dedicated guidance from our teachers in the past years. We will strive even more toshare the DTU spirit as well as our work experiences with the future generations of students.”
The happiness on the faces of lecturers and students of the Faculty of Nursing when they welcomed many invited guests and successful alumni to the meeting was completely genuine. In spite of being founded only five years ago, the Faculty of Nursing already made some major contributions to public health care. Most recent is Truong Thi Mai’sgraduation thesis “Inserting Port-A-Cath” (which she is now applying as Chief Nurse at the Oncology Department of Danang Hospital), which was elected as exemplary at the 17th National Cancer Prevention conference, attended by many leaders in the field of medicine as well as a great many leading scientists working in cancer prevention from the United States, France, Switzerland, Japan, Vietnam, etc.
Ms.Nguyen Thi Hong, Chief Nurse at the General Hospital for the North Quang Nam region, said, “Graduating from DTU helped me increase my professional and management skills, as well as acquire 'soft' skills to efficiently deal with unexpected issues. The hospital I am now working at is currently accepting quite a lot of DTU students for internships and employment. DTU students are very highly regarded when it comes to patient care. From patient care planning to examination and diagnosing, they meet the Ministry of Health standards well. People at the hospital are very happy with the high-quality human resources trained at DTU and we highly appreciate the enthusiastic working spirit of DTU graduates.”
For DTU faculty, the happiness and achievements of their students are the most precious spiritual gift, encouraging them to continue their profession of “cultivating the people” and to train generations of students from all over the globe imbued with the character of Duy Tan.
