Ms. Meirav Eilon Shahar, Israeli Ambassador to Vietnam, speaks at the seminar
Ms. Shahar said:
"I am pleased to be here at DTU. Thank you for your hospitality and warm welcome, as well as the excellent preparation for this seminar, which is the first activity in the three-week working program of the Faculty of Nursing of Ben-Gurion University. The presence of Vietnamese leaders in Nursing at the seminar demonstrates the urgent need for nurses in Vietnam. I am confident that our partnership with DTU will be successful."
At the seminar, Mr. Muc overviewed the current status of nursing and medical professionalism and ethics in Vietnam. Patients value the communication skills and work attitude of their nurses, so it is vital that nurses treat them well and make the patient’s health their top priority. Nursing is a public service with special requirements, saving lives while upgrading their knowledge, and winning the confidence of the patients. Every nurse needs to have a thorough understanding of the eight ethical standards, which are safety, respect, friendliness, honesty, capacity, self-respect, solidarity and commitment. Nurses should always be smiling and cheerful to bring fun and hope to patients.
Mr. Pham Duc Muc, President of the Vietnam Nursing Association
Professors Levitin and Hurvitz explained the professional code of Ethics in Israel for solving ethicals dilemmas. Israeli nursing students study the spiral approach of critical thinking and attend clinical seminars to enhance their professional skills. The study of Ethics has been a top priority so that every nurse is able to independently solve problems legally to make their patients feel more secure.
Associate Professor Minh highlighted the importance of the seminar. He said:
“The visit to DTU of Ms. Meirav Eilon Shahar and two professors of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev was an event of great significance for both universities to expand our academic partnership. The Professional Code of Ethics discussed at the seminar will prove to be very useful in the training of Vietnamese nurses in the near future. Recently DTU has begun to develop and introduce 3D Graphics systems for teaching surgery to Medical and Pharmaceutical students, including 3D skeletal, muscular and circulatory models. Several other models are under development. This is an advanced training approach to learning, teaching and research for DTU Faculty of Nursing students to enhance their knowledge to meet increasing national demands in the future.”
