From April 27th to 29th, DTU hosted the 2014 International Conference on Computing, Management and Telecommunications (ComManTel 2014). In attendance were more than one hundred local, national and foreign scientists. More than one hundred papers were submitted scientists from twenty-one countries, demonstrating the important role of Computing, Management and Telecommunications in the digital age.
Distinguished Teacher Le Cong Co, DTU President and Provost, said: “DTU welcomes Vietnamese and foreign scientists to the 2014 ComManTel International Conference. The event will offer DTU to learn more about state-of-the-art information in order to tailor and perfect its teaching training curricula and to enhance IT research.”

Speaking at the event, Mr. Phung Tan Viet, Vice-Chairman of the Danang People’s Committee, stressed: "Danang greatly appreciates DTU’s initiative in hosting this international conference. As one of the five Vietnamese self-governed cities planned as key national economic zones, Danang has focused much attention on infrastructure and investment in services. IT is considered to be the key driving force behind the development of all local businesses and services. Danang has made remarkable progress in IT hardware, software and human resource development and is implementing a public Wi-Fi internet project and has been given the responsibility by the Ministry of Information and Communications and the Vietnam Informatics Association to develop new IT applications."
DTU has been recognized as one of the best multi-level, multi-disciplined private universities in Vietnam and has made significant progress in improving its educational standards through several international partnerships. With its early achievements in research and the many international awards won by DTU students, DTU has won community recognition for its high quality education.”
Participants at the Conference
ComManTel 2014 was an important opportunity for scientists from 21 countries, including the US, the UK, France, Canada, Saudi Arabia, China, Australia and Spain to share the latest information about electro-mechanics and telecommunications, as well as strengthening international research partnerships. Before the conference started, the organizers had received 100 papers, of which the best 53 were approved for release through JoC, FTRA Publishing, the IJITCC Journal, InterScience, Peer-to-Peer Networking and Applications and Springer.
As the author of seven papers presented at the conference, Dr. Ha Dac Binh, Vice-Director of the DTU Center for Research and Development, said: “The ComManTel 2014 has become a forum for national and international experts to present and promote research in Computing, Management and Telecommunications. Presently, topics such Wireless Technology, Cognitive Radio and Dynamic Spectrum Access and 5G Technology development attract the attention of most scientists. Other topics, such as Resource Management and Security will also be discussed at the conference.”
During the 3-day conference, research papers in Wireless Networking, Cloud computing, Green computing, Biomedical Informatics computing, Multimedia computing, E-business and E-government applications, Mobile computing, computer applications in education, Signal and Image processing, Decoding and Encoding techniques and so on were presented and discussed. DTU held a Gala dinner for participants to get to know each other.
Associate Professor Dr. Nidal Nasser, of Alfaisal University in Saudi Arabia, said: “The 2nd International Conference on Computing, Management and Telecommunications has taken place in Danang. The beauty of your city and your warm hospitality have impressed me. Thanks to DTU for your hard work in hosting the conference for scientists from all over the world. We were able to meet each other and share the latest information about computing technologies and telecommunications, as well as their real-time applications. I am sure that the conference met the expectations of everyone.”
The ComManTel 2014 conference, the international participants and their research papers qualified research papers will open new doors to improve the quality of IT education at DTU and throughout Vietnam.
