DTU met with delegations from the Korea Institute for Advance Study, KIAS,
and with INHA University of Korea on December 27th. Attendees
included Professor Jaewan Kim, Associate Professor Kisik Kim, Professor Vu Xuan
Quang, Director of the DTU Center for Research
and Development, and many DTU lecturers and staff.
Professor Kim addresses the meeting
The delegation spoke highly
of DTU’s achievements. Associate Professor Kim said: “We are very impressed
by DTU. Your campus is very attractive, modern and crowded with students who
are friendly, polite and helpful. I like this place very much and hope that our
meeting will open the door for partnerships with INHA and KIAS in such fields
as Computational Science, Physics, Biology and so on.”
Representatives of INHA, KIAS and DTU
At the meeting, Professor
Kim gave a lecture entitled:”An
Introduction to Quantum Information Science”. This new area of study is based
on the idea that information science depends on quantum physics. It includes
theoretical issues in computational modeling, as well as experimental topics in
quantum physics, including what can and cannot be done with quantum
information. Currently theoretical Quantum
Information Science is being studied in some developed countries and will
increase competition in the IT sector.
Dr. Dinh Trung Hoa, from
the DTU Center for Research and Development, said: “Researching Quantum Information Science helps to accelerate the development of Information Technology and
other disciplines. I hope that this meeting will open up opportunities for DTU
to collaborate on research projects and to reap significant rewards this exciting,
new area.”
