On
December 4th, DTU met with the School of Information and
Communication Technology (SoICT) of Hanoi University of Science and Technology
(HUST) to discuss and expand a relationship in education and research.
Attendees included Professor Huynh Quyet Thang, Dean of SoICT, Dr. Le Nguyen
Bao, DTU Vice-Provost and DTU faculty and staff.

Professor Thang gave an overview of
SoITC. As part of the Hanoi University of Science and Technology, SoITC was
founded in 2009 to organize joint projects between their IT department and Japanese
universities, in graduate Information and Communication Technology education. The
mission of SoITC is to provide Vietnam with the best quality education,
research and technological transfer and services in the field of Information
and Technology Communication. Foreign and domestic companies also invest in
technological development at SoITC.

“We are highly impressed by DTU’s achievements, especially its successful
hosting of the 22nd Informatics Olympiad and the 2013 ACM/ICPC Asia
Regional Contest. DTU is well-known as a high quality private university in throughout
Vietnam. You are partnering and expanding relationships several well-known IT universities
in the United States and contributing to the supply of a highly-qualified local
workforce.” said Professor Thang.
DTU and SoITC discussed cooperating
in education and research in IT in the near future. They plan to hold seminars
to share information and experience. DTU will be able to contribute scientific
research theses to SoITC these lists and to be consulted, supported and trained
in information technology by leading experts from SoITC.
DTU and SoITC will continue to discuss partnering to support
each other in the near future.
