The Third English Singing Competition

An English Singing Competition entitled “Search for DTU’s Bruno Mars” was held on the Sunday evening of May 26th, at the Quang Trung Campus. This was the third competition organized by Miss Pamela V. Dy, a DTU English Lecturer at the DTU International School. The objective of these types of extra-curricular activities is to encourage students to discover and refine talents of singing, emceeing and event planning.

Attendees included Mrs. Elizabeth Smith, Asian Director of Educational Services International, Ms. Vu Thi Kim Hue, Business coordinator of the DTU Fasttrak Career Development and Training Center, Mr. Vo Thai Mai Son, Manager of the Tourane Bar, Doris Gallan, DTU Consultant and Instructor from the DTU Tourism and Hospitality Department and Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy, Teaching Assistant at the International School, together with a large number of DTU students.
 
Nguyen Hoang Viet won first-prize
 
Fifteen hopefuls sang their hearts out during the event. Because of his warm voice and heart-felt performance, the winner, Nguyen Hoang Viet of K18PSUDLK2, who sang “Just the Way You Are" amazed everyone and Le Nguyen Qui Thu, of K17PSUQCD3, won second prize with a breakthrough performance.
 
The champion said: "I was very excited to participate in the competition. With the dedicated guidance of Ms. Ella Pam, I felt stronger and more confident to sing “Just The Way You Are” for the first time and I won. This extra-curricular activity provided us with a good opportunity to talk to each other and to improve our English”.
 
Besides inviting lecturers from the leading American universities to DTU to teach, the DTU International School frequently organizes seminars and English Singing Competitions to help students improve their English and gain confidence in their spare time.
