The Singapore Polytechnic Cements its Friendship with DTU

On April 3rd, at the Village of Hope, DTU and the Singapore Polytechnic students held a ceremony to hand-over the renovation work completed on the playground and railings there”. The event was part of a comprehensive collaboration between the two institutions. Mr. Nguyen Quoc Lam, Dean of the DTU Construction faculty, Mr. Nguyen Viet Thanh, Deputy-Director of the Village of Hope, Mr. Teo Kian Hun and Mr. Nashatar Sing, lecturers from Singapore Polytechnic lecturers, together with a large number of students and orphans attended the ceremony.

Representatives of DTU and Singapore Polytechnic handed over the work, which cost 53,628,000 VND, to Mr. Nguyen Viet Thanh. It had taken the students three days to repaint all the windows, railings and swings in the Village. They also presented gifts to disabled children at the Danang Center for Agent Orange Victims. Mr. Teo Kian Hun said:”This is the third time I have been to Danang. We have carried out our community programs in with DTU here and feel so happy to contribute our small part to help the orphans of the Village. We are planning to renovate the basketball and football fields next year. I would like to say thanks to the Village of Hope and to DTU for providing us the opportunity to conduct our charitable work for the orphans and disabled children.”

On behalf of DTU, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Lam thanked leaders of the Village of Hope and the Singapore Polytechnic delegation for enabling students to participate in charitable work. He said:”It is terrific for the faculty and students of the two universities to have worked so well together for the Village of Hope. Hopefully, there will be more projects like this one to bring more joy and happiness to the children. This also helps to strengthen the friendship between DTU and Singapore Polytechnic.”

The collaboration with Singapore Polytechnic began in 2003. Up to now, besides engaging in many educational activities together, the two universities have also focused on organizing several extra-curricular activities, especially charitable work for the beloved children of the Village of Hope in Danang, including renovation of the dining-room, the reading room, the playground and the railings.
