Mr. Huynh Ngoc Hao, a DTU staff member said: “In the last ten years, many new large building projects have been completed around Vietnam. This leads to a higher demand for highly-qualified experts to manage and solve technical problems. Fifteen years ago, DTU opened a program in Civil Engineering and availability of a Master’s program is really essential to meet local needs. The DTU new Civil Engineering program will not only help upgrade the qualifications of DTU’s engineers but also provide new solutions in science and technology for engineers graduating from other universities”.
International curricula taught by an international team of DTU lecturers will be the elements that differentiate the DTU Master’s program in Civil Engineering from others. This has also been a unique feature of other postgraduate programs in Computer Science, Business Administration and Accounting that DTU has offered recently. By enrolling in the program, Civil Engineering students will study many key topics during the course, such as Structural Dynamics, Advanced Steel Structure, Modern Construction Technology and so on, to provide them with state-of-the-art knowledge in the design and execution of specialized projects with high technological requirements. In their studies they will also get involved in projects to fight floods, landslides and earthquakes. Discussions on other optional topics, such as “Applications of Geothermal Piles in the Construction of High-Rise Buildings”, “New Compositions of Steel Structures” will be held frequently as opportunities for students to share their experiences with each other.
Most of the course majors will be taught by professors from the USA, France, Canada, etc. Mr. Le Cong Co, Distinguished Teacher and DTU President and Provost said: “DTU has almost completed arrangements for 50% of the majors to be taught by American professors. In the future, we will offer more dual-certified postgraduate programs with foreign partners to attract international students. By taking practical steps, DTU will improve its postgraduate teaching quality to compare with other regional universities. DTU will then become one of the top universities offering postgraduate programs in the region and Vietnam as a whole”.
Dr. Nguyen Chien Thang (Head of the Master’s of Civil Engineering Planning Board) said: “At the moment, DTU is offering three master programs in Computer Science, Business Administration and Accounting. We partner with leading universities, most of which are American. Students graduating from other DTU Master’s programs have found high-level careers with good incomes. The new Master’s program in Civil Engineering, located in DTU’s modern facilities will provide a more qualified and skilled labor force to meet the ever-increasing local demands”.
With its educational reputation, the DTU Master’s program in Civil Engineering will contribute to the creation of modern, spectacular architectural projects which will change the image of our country.
