Database mining has become a hot topic recently. The rapid development of Information Technology industry has led to the need for data collection and storage in many areas, in production, in business, in management and so on. Mr. Huu Hoa’s project proposed a new way of using database mining technique to select information. His project was considered to be beneficial not only to the health-care industry but also in other fields, such as education and business in general.

One of the judges, Mr. Nguyen Duc Man, Dean of the DTU International School said: “It was the first time DTU students had competed. The two prizes won by Mr. Le Huu Hoa demonstrated the abilities and talents of DTU students in competitive national technology contests. I believe that more DTU graduate students will participate in the competition next year, giving them the opportunity to practice for, gain and share experiences at national and international IT conferences”.

As a DTU graduate of the Department of Information Technology, Mr. Huu Hoa often spends time visiting lecturers and friends at the DTU campus. He is now one of the highly-qualified staff working at Luvina Software, which is a Japanese-owned company. In 2009, he won second prize in the “Discover IBM Technology” competition on IBM Technology Day. He said: “I only had two months to finish my graduation thesis and internship placement. There wasn’t much equipment to conduct the project, but I just wanted to share my IT experiences with anyone who was interested. I was surprised to win second place in the competition. I hope that my project will be applied effectively academically, so that students will locate the most appropriate university. I want to thank the DTU lecturers for their dedication in providing us with the knowledge and skills for our future success”.
