On August 8-9th, DTU representatives attended at the FICAP Conference in Ho Chi Minh City. The conference was held by the University of Natural Sciences and focused on “Implementing academic partnerships in developing countries”. This was the first time that AUT University, in Auckland, New Zealand, Keuka College in the USA, Jiliang University in China, Uppsala University in Sweden and some of the Vietnamese universities had taken part in the conference.
The objective of the conference was “to look for solutions to enhance non-profit collaborations in academic programs to improve our students”. Thirty presentations were delivered and will be posted on the internet by Brown Walker in the form of an e-book.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Man (4th left) attended the conference
Mr. Nguyen Duc Man, Dean of the DTU International School gave a presentation on “Difficulties in implementing advanced academic programs in Vietnam”. He gave examples of the implementation of the CSU, CMU and PSU programs at DTU, which were received the interest and appreciation of attendees and was an excellent opportunity to introduce national and international institutions to DTU.
“The conference helped DTU to exchange ideas and to look for new partnerships in the development of advanced academic programs. Also, we were able to learn more from the other universities about the best ways to develop study-aboard programs, like the 1+1+2, 2+2, 3+1 programs at DTU”, said Mr. Man.
The conference will be held annually as an academic forum for universities offering advanced academic programs. The most vital issue was how to set up the most appropriate advanced programs for Vietnamese students and how to improve Vietnamese standardized academic programs for international implementation. Hopefully, DTU will be able to assist in finding the best solutions in the future.
