The ASEAN - Korea Cultural Exchange Week at DTU

From December 11 to 16, Duy Tan University, the Korean Cultural Centre (KCC) in Hanoi and the Korea Tourism Organization in Vietnam (KTO Vietnam) jointly held the ASEAN - Korea Cultural Exchange week.

Ambassador Vu Ho, Head of SOM ASEAN Vietnam, said: “The ASEAN - Korea Cultural Exchange Week at DTU is a significant arts and culture event, commemorating 30 years of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the RoK. I believe that the success of this event will contribute to promoting stronger relations between ASEAN and Korea and, at the same time, increasingly promote mutual understanding between ASEAN countries”

ASEAN - Korea Cultural Exchange week attracted a large number of young people and included many enjoyable cultural exchange activities. 
 
Mr. Kang Boo Sung, Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Danang, said: “DTU has played a leading role and recently made great contributions to promoting exchanges between Korea and Vietnam. The ASEAN - Korea week broadens the horizon of exchange opportunities between Korea and ASEAN, moving beyond the bilateral relationship between Korea and Vietnam. I hope that the event will develop an understanding between the entire ASEAN and Korea regions, enhancing mutual trust and economic cooperation", said Mr. Kang Boo Sung.

The ASEAN - Korea Cultural Exchange Week included special artistic performances, including:
 
- The closing ceremony of the K-POP Academy course project, hosted by KTO Vietnam
- Traditional Korean musical instrument performances, by a group from Seoul National University
- Classical music performances, by the New York Classical Music Society (NYCMS)
- A welcoming e program for new DTU School of Tourism and DTU International School students

Dr. Le Nguyen Bao, DTU Provost, said: “From the perspective of being Vietnamese and Asian, the economic miracle of South Korea is one of the greatest success stories of the last century. There are many things the world can learn from South Korea, including the spread and popularity of the 'Hallyu wave' to other Asian countries and others, including K-Pop music, dramas, fashion and cuisine, which all have contributed to promoting Korea to the world. It is an honor for DTU to host the “ASEAN - Korea Cultural Exchange Week” and I hope this event will allow the relationship between Korea and ASEAN countries to become stronger and reach new heights."
 
The event included many enjoyable cultural exchange activities, such as a Korean kimchi making class, demonstrations of the Korean traditional Hanbok costume and student information booths.

Performances by students from Seoul National University 
 
Student Lee Dong-Yeon, from Seoul National University, said: “We appreciate the warm welcome DTU lecturers and students have given us. As we watch DTU students enthusiastically participating in Korean folk songs and dances and cheering our performances, we realize that they have sincerely been moved emotionally by the Korean culture."
