On December 4, DTU signed an agreement with the Korean Share Sarangbat. Attendees included Mr.Shin Chang Min, Head of Share Sarangbat International Projects; Dr. Le Nguyen Tue Hang, DTU Vice-Provost; Share Sarangbat representatives; lecturers and students of the DTU Faculty of Odonto-Stomatology.

Mr.Shin Chang Min said: “Since our inception in South Korea in 1987, Share Sarangbat has carried out various charity activities to support needy children in our country and worldwide. Hopefully, our agreement with DTU will facilitate us in the implementation of volunteer programs in support of education, social protection, medical examination and treatment, cultural exchanges, and the healthcare of Vietnamese children.”

In particular, the agreement focused on joint projects to improve the quality of healthcare for inhabitants of the mountainous areas of Quang Nam province:
- Share Sarangbat: Will manage and implement oral health, maternal child health and the malnourished children prevention projects
- DTU: Will provide the manpower to implement projects to improve healthcare in the mountains of Quang Nam province
Dr. Nguyen Ha Quoc Trung, Deputy-Head of the DTU Faculty of Odonto-Stomatology said: “As teachers and physicians, the staff of the DTU Faculty of Odonto-Stomatology are always aware of their roles and responsibilities concerning communications and education programs to improve oral health in Danang and Quang Nam in particular, and throughout Vietnam in general. Over the past year, the DTU Faculty of Odonto-Stomatology held six successful volunteer campaigns, with 2,299 tooth examinations, 1,245 teeth filled, 929 tartar removals and 723 teeth coated with SDF. Furthermore 2,314 tubes of toothpaste with toothbrushes were distributed to attendees.
“On October 24 and 25, our Faculty collaborated with the Fields of Love NGO at the Ca Dy kindergarten and the inter-commune kindergarten in Ta Bhing-Ta Po. We examined and treated four hundred children and our DTU students learned more about the difficulty of life there, their roles in community activities, meanwhile improving their dental examination and patient treatment skills.”
