On March 11th, Professor Duong Quang Trung, Professor of Telecommunications at Queen’s University in Belfast (QUB) in the UK, visited DTU to make a presentation on the “Key to Success in Global Scientific Research Integration”.
Professor Trung said: “Scientific research is all about discovering and learning the laws of natural and social phenomena, and then developing ways of solving every day problems. Unfortunately, many people today still misunderstand the nature of scientific research. This talk show is planned to provide a clearer definition and encourage you all to commence your own research. The younger generation today can better explore and promote creative research projects because they benefit from a more advanced education, the latest technologies and state-of-the-art facilities.”
Professor Duong Quang Trung presents details on scientific research
Professor Trung talked about his graduation from the HCMC University of Technology, leading to a Master’s degree and a Doctorate, and his achievements since then. He encouraged students to “think big” in their self-development and advised them to:
- Maintain their passion for research
- Identify their personal strengths, choose an appropriate career and develop a clear plan for the future
- Realize at each stage of their lives that they cannot have achieve everything and must sometimes let things go
- Improve their soft skills
Students ask questions
Professor Trung answered many questions from students about issues. For example, on how to connect with individuals or businesses while conducting research, time management, scheduling research with other activities on a daily basis, and whether students should come up with new research topics by themselves or ask their lecturers for suggestions.
Professor Trung is a Professor of Telecommunications at Queen’s University Belfast (QUB), in the UK.
