Experiencing life and contributing to the community

Dinh Nam grew up in a family with a long tradition in medicine and always dreamt becoming a doctor like his father, to support patients and his loved ones when necessary. At the outset, Nam went with his father to remote areas to provide free healthcare to the poor and needy. Now Dinh Nam is studying hard and meanwhile participates in many social and charitable activities at DTU to help people in difficulty. These include: “Trang sang vung bien”; “Trao nang Xuan 3”; “Xuan yeu thuong”; “the Green Summer campaign”; a training program entitled: “Young people act to eliminate gender prejudices, gender-based violence and promote gender equality”; and blood donation programs.

For his exemplary contributions to social work, Dinh Nam has received Certificates of Merit from the Danang City Union for his outstanding work in the 2018-2019 Danang youth movement and from the Faculty of Nursing for his Union work in the 2015-2016 student movement. Meanwhile, Dinh Nam has also received a Certificate of Merit from the Binh Son district, in Quang Ngai province, for volunteering to lay concrete roads in the Binh Phuoc commune in 2018.  In addition, Dinh Nam actively took part in the organization of major programs and events for DTU students, and in the emulation movement, social movements and other charitable activities.

Dinh Nam said: “After five years of active social work in a university environment, it is a great honor for my efforts to be recognized by the Danang City Union, the Danang Red Cross and the DTU Union. In a medical practice, social work is not voluntary but a duty performed to protect the health and the lives of the community. As Secretary of the Faculty of Medicine Union Branch and member of the DTU University Union Standing Committee, I will always do my best to study to fulfill my responsibilities, create an environment for Union members and students to work closely together and build a foundation to enable the Union to grow ever stronger.”

As well as Dinh Nam, there are many other outstanding DTU students who have ignited their colleagues with their special enthusiasm, daring, youthful strength and radical spirit, ultimately greatly benefitting their local communities and hometowns.
