On October 11th 2009, Duy Tan University commemorated the new academic year with a ceremony attended by faculty and students.
In his opening speech, Mr. Le Cong Co, Provost of DTU, said that, despite the global economic downturn, DTU still had strong enrollment, in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, thanks to the university’s strong reputation.
In the academic year 2009/2010, DTU enrolled 2,900 students at the college and junior college level in 16 majors and another 1,000 students in vocational training, achieving the intake target required by the MOET. New fields of study, like Environmental Technology, Automation and advanced international programs were particularly popular.
At this event, the university granted nine scholarships, worth 1-1.5 million VND each, to the top students in the university entrance exam. Sacombank also offered four scholarships of 2 million VND each to outstanding needy students.
At the ceremony, the university launched a donation program to aid people affected in flooded areas during the recent typhoons.
