A Scientific Conference to Commemorate DTU’s 17th Anniversary


Associate Professor Vo Van Nhi suggested some negative factors that might still inhibit scientific research at Vietnamese universities”. “It is necessary for MOET to issue some regulations concerning scientific research. In addition, lecturers recruited by any university must be qualified to meet the basic requirements.”
In another presentation, entitled “Innovative Thinking“, Professor Nguyen Dinh Chu indicated that a change in thinking is vital not only in conducting scientific research but also in many other disciplines in a developing Vietnam. “Improving awareness in Vietnam of the importance of conducting scientific research will be key to our future success”, added Professor Chu.
Other presentations, including “The Role of Education in a Technological Area” by Professor Nguyen Xuan Huy, “IT and Creativity in Universities” by Professor Hoang Kiem, “Applications of E-Learning in Vietnamese Universities” by Professor Dinh Chien raised several ideas concerning innovative IT applications and ways of improving teaching quality.
DTU lecturers reported on some successful, completed projects, such as “New Construction of Bricks and Walls” by Dr. Nguyen The Duong, “The Design of an Automated Laboratory” by Mr. Nguyen Van Tho and “Handwriting Recognition Based on a Vector Machine” by Dr. Nguyen Anh Phuong.
Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Minh, DTU Vice Rector said: “These reports prove how far DTU has progressed over the past 17 years. I am sure that this conference will help DTU lecturers now understand that expanding the scope of scientific research at DTU is vital to our future progress and success”.
