82 DTU Students to Japan for Employment and Paid Internships

Just three years after it was first implemented, the Japan Internship Program at DTU has given 82 DTU students the opportunity for paid internship and official employment in Japan - an impressive figure that reflects the effectiveness, prestige, and practicality of the university’s approach of international cooperation to enhance training quality.

Most recently, Tran Ngoc Anh Thu, a DTU student of Pharmacy, left for Japan for a paid internship at the company Yeastubaki, after being selected for the Japan Internship Program jointly organized by DTU and the Japan Internship Support Association (JISA).

“To go to Japan for an internship is one of my biggest dreams,” Anh Thu explains. “I’m truly grateful that DTU gave me this valuable opportunity. The lecturers at DTU have equipped me with so much knowledge and skills, and I hope this stay in Japan will allow me to learn more about professional work, discipline, and high sense of responsibility in work.”

The Japan Internship Program that Anh Thu joined attracts a great many DTU students. The program offers twelve-month internships in Japan across a wide range of majors, including Nursing, Pharmacy, Graphic Design, Japanese Language, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Food Technology, IT, Civil Engineering, Architecture, and English Language.

Students participating in the program enjoy a lot of benefits:

-    recognition of up to 16 practice credits provided internship aligns with major;
-    free Japanese language course before and after departure;
-    full financial support: application, visa, round-trip airfare, accommodation;
-    monthly living allowance of 70,000 yen per month (about 14 million VND);

With the dedicated support of many Japanese partners, DTU students joining the program have enjoyed month-long internships, enhanced their knowledge, and honed their skills in Japan. They have left a positive impression on the Japanese partners. They demonstrate not only strong professional competence and adaptability to an international environment but also diligence and a high sense of responsibility at work.

Among the DTU students doing internships in Japan, Nguyen Thi Thuy Vy from the Faculty of English of DTU’s School of Languages, Humanities, & Social Sciences (LHSS) is particularly impressive. Thuy Vy completed a one-year internship at the Intercontinental Hotel in Iwate Prefecture, Japan. Beyond gaining knowledge and work skills, Thuy Vy also managed to bring her mother over 150 million VND (from her savings during the internship under the Japan Internship Program).

“My one-year internship at the Intercontinental Hotel was an incredibly valuable experience,” Thuy Vy explains. “After six months, we had been trained to be leaders or support leaders and to guide teams and assist Japanese leaders. During those six months, I not only received in-depth training but also gained a clearer sense of my future career path. I had wonderful colleagues and friends. If I have the chance, I want to return to Japan to continue studying and working because it’s truly a promised land for living, learning, and growing. The Japanese people’s civility, hospitality, and diligence get my never-ending respect.”

Many students were offered opportunities to continue working long-term after completing their internships with a Japanese company, opening stable career prospects. One such student who got to stay in Japan through the Japan Internship Program is Nguyen Duc Hoan My, a graduate of DTU’s class K25 in General Nursing who is currently working at the company Shinken in Japan.

“Working here, I’m truly impressed by the professionalism and meticulousness of the entire team,” Hoan My explains. “Every task, no matter how small, is carried out according to precise procedures and schedules, showing a strong sense of responsibility and cooperation. I’ve realized that the professional knowledge of nursing and the communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills I gained at DTU have been the foundation that allowed me to confidently adapt, flexibly handle situations, and perform well in a professional and demanding work environment as in Japan. This has made me even more appreciative of the practical value of DTU’s training programs and the lecturers’ dedicated support throughout my studies - all to equip students with the best skills to succeed in any work environment.”
