On the morning of November 29, 2024, DTU signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Kushiro National College of Technology, a part of the National Institute of Technology (KOSEN) in Japan. Attendees included Professor Dr. Tomohiko Otsuka, President of Kushiro National College of Technology; Dr. Nguyen Huu Phu, DTU Vice - Provost, and representatives from both institutions.

Founded in 1965, the Kushiro National College of Technology is one of the 51 National colleges of Technology in Japan and is one of the institutions founded by the Japanese government to train engineers and technical experts to drive industrial development.
The Kushiro National College of Technology focuses on the training in five specialized fields: Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, and Architecture.

Professor Dr. Tomohiko Otsuka said: “Through the comprehensive cooperation agreement between DTU and Kushiro National College of Technology, we hope to promote cross-cultural understanding between students from both countries while also supporting them in developing their professional skills. In the future, students participating in the collaborative programs between DTU and Kushiro National College of Technology will have the opportunity to experience learning through the PBL (Project-Based Learning) model and apply it in practice. Furthermore, we understand the potential of international collaboration among faculty members and look forward to joint research initiatives and the exchange of extensive knowledge between our two institutions. This cooperation agreement will provide a meaningful platform for exchange between the students and faculty of both institutions. I hope that this initiative will make significant contributions to the development of engineers and researchers in the future.”

DTU and Kushiro National College of Technology signed an MoU outlining several key areas of collaboration, in which Kushiro National College of Technology will partner with DTU in the following activities:
• Promoting academic exchange in training and research,
• Encouraging students, faculty, and staff exchange,
• Fostering friendly exchanges based on principles of freedom, equality, and mutual benefit, while respecting each other's opinions.
As part of Japan's Sakura Science Program, in December 2023, the first group of DTU students came to the National Institute of Technology (KOSEN) to study. In return, in March 2024, a group of students from KOSEN came to study at DTU. In the near future, both institutions are expected to have more collaborative activities, including faculty and student exchanges.
