On July 13, 2024, the INCiTE Summer School 2024 took place at the DTU 03 Quang Trung campus in Da Nang. Jointly held by DTU and five major universities from around the world, including the University of Edinburgh (United Kingdom), the University of Amsterdam (Netherlands), the University of Sydney (Australia), Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), and the National University of Management (Cambodia), the program aimed at enhancing students' awareness through educational activities and cultural experiences to broaden their international perspectives and understanding. Additionally, it creates opportunities to build cooperative networks among universities to promote the sharing of knowledge and experiences, as well as facilitate the comprehensive development of students.
Dr. Le Nguyen Tue Hang, DTU Vice - Provost
In her opening remarks, Dr. Le Nguyen Tue Hang, DTU Vice - Provost, said: “Today marks a significant event as we gather here from all over the world to elevate the spirit of international friendship, educational collaboration and cultural exchange. I would like to extend a warm welcome to all our guests, professors, lecturers, and students from universities worldwide. Your presence not only signifies the growth of our academic community but also provides a precious opportunity for us to learn from one another.
At DTU, we strive to create an environment that constantly encourages innovation, critical thinking, and cultural exchange. We firmly believe that ‘Education Beyond Education’, I mean education that transcends traditional boundaries, can be achieved through international collaboration and the exchange of innovative ideas, enabling us to reach even more remarkable achievements together.
I hope that through this program, our students will gain a deeper understanding of different cultures and global issues, form meaningful connections, and create wonderful memories. To the students, I urge you to share your knowledge and embrace the diverse perspectives that each of you brings to the program. For the lecturers, this is an opportunity for us to build sustainable cooperation, explore new research directions, and inspire one another, all in pursuit of higher and greater educational achievements.”
Ms. Isabell Majewsky Anderson from the University of Edinburgh
During the opening ceremony, Ms. Isabell Majewsky Anderson from the University of Edinburgh shared her heartfelt thoughts: “We are here because we and DTU share the same belief, passion, and desire: to help students from different cultures, with different life experiences, from different parts of the world, come together. We all know that the world is going through many upheavals and the importance of becoming a global citizen. This is an opportunity for students worldwide to work together to build relationships, enhance cultural understanding, and hone entrepreneurship skills, design thinking, and other skills to find solutions to global issues. That's why we created this program.”
Ms. Isabell humorously advised the participating students: “Like a roller coaster, if you can face the heights, you can also face the challenges within the program, such as cultural differences, norms, work styles, and even different sleeping habits. That’s part of the journey, and we need to respect these differences. The journey will help you develop personal abilities, understand cultures, step out of your comfort zone, and come up with exciting proposals to address the challenges the world is facing.”
