Mr. Choi Joo Ho, President of the Samsung Viet Nam Complex, said: “We are living in the era of Industry 4.0, characterized by hyper-connectivity and hyper-intelligence. We are experiencing new heights of technological innovation. The influence of Artificial Intelligence is becoming more prevalent, and robots are replacing humans. In particular, the demand for highly qualified professionals trained in digital information systems and digital technology is escalating.”
Mr. Choi Joo Ho, President of the Samsung Vietnam Complex
“It is vitally important that personnel are able to quickly respond to changing times and, this year, Samsung will broaden its Samsung Innovation Campus activities in the Central provinces, starting at DTU, to continually support the training of talented students here.”
The signing
Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee, Le Trung Chinh said: “Over the past 30 years, DTU has confirmed its position in higher education nationwide. In addition to their 25,000 students today, DTU has already educated a large percentage of the local labor force, who now actively contribute to the industrialization and modernization of the area. They are backed by teams of dedicated lecturers and partner in advanced joint and dual degree programs with renowned American universities. The signing of the SIC project at DTU is highly significant because Danang, and Vietnam in general, are striving for more innovative information technology application projects. Partnering with Samsung is a big step in this process and I envisage that our joint project will improve opportunities for DTU students to apply the latest technology and contribute to the quality of the workforce in our city.”
Mr. Le Trung Chinh
Mr. Choi Joo Ho added: “Samsung plans to support Vietnam, to develop with it, and steadily earn the respect of the Vietnamese people. We also built and operate Asia’s leading R&D Center in Hanoi, as part of our global development strategy, in addition to establishing one of Samsung’s largest production centers worldwide there. I am sure that, through this partnership, many young people in Central Vietnam will be able to realize their cherished aspirations.”
The Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC) is a global ICT education program for ages 14 to 24, which offers three technology skill development courses, in addition to a course in basic coding & programming skills:
- Internet of Things (IoT),
- Artificial Intelligence (AI),
- Big Data
The first DTU students join the 2022-2023 SIC class
To begin, Samsung and DTU will provide a program on Big Data for 25 students, before adding courses in the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Coding and Programming in 2023-24.
The signing
In addition, Samsung Vietnam also offers internships at the Samsung Research and Development Center Vietnam (SRV) to the ten best DTU students, where they can learn programming languages, such as Java and C/C++, practice the research center on completion of their SIC courses and share information at technology conferences and competitions.
Dr. Le Nguyen Bao, DTU Provost, said: “People often say ‘If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.’ We have learned this afternoon that we need to cooperate to go further, working closely with large enterprises like Samsung, the city of Danang, students and lecturers on our joint pursuits. Today’s ceremony is the first step in the Samsung Innovation Campus program, but after that we can collaborate on AI, IoT and Big Data curricula. Even further, we could ultimately develop our own computer chips and applications, enabling us to grow into a more advanced nation, like South Korea. Once again, I’d like to thank the Samsung Group and city leaders for their interest and support. I fervently wish that our partnership will be of great benefit to Danang.”
Dr. le Nguyen Bao, DTU Provost
