On April 22nd, the DTU School of Engineering & Technology held its third annual Science Conference to promote research activities at the university, motivate students to study harder and explore new topics.

Dr. Nguyen Phuoc The said: “In addition to studying theory, conducting research is crucial for students, to enable them to develop creative thinking and learn how to read documents, design slide shows and make presentations. We received 20 projects and selected 15 potential projects for presentation this year. We hope that you will participate more actively in research in the future, to enhance your reasoning skills, and apply what you have learned to solving real-world problems. DTU lecturers are always ready to support you during your research, in order to produce the best products.”
The conference was divided into three sections: Electronic & Electrical Engineering; Civil Engineering & Architecture; and Environmental Science. Students presented their ideas, solutions and findings on diverse topics, mostly focusing on potential applications which could be developed into practical products

Prizes were awarded as follows:
First: Solutions to collect debris from tires by electrostatic system
First: Smart wearable devices to support people with disabilities or limited mobility
First: Research on the methylation process of the P16 and RASSF1A in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma
Second: Designing and manufacturing a danger warning and door lock safety system for automobiles
Second: Smart noise monitoring system by Human View application
Second: Research on factors affecting the shear resistance of reinforced concrete columns
Third: Designing the accident warning and controlling system at roads and railway intersections
Third: Research on the effect of harvesting time on the nutritional composition of Tsoi Sim sprouts,
Third: Research on synthesis of Mn304/activated carbon/ chitosan beads from peanut shells for the application of methylene blue treatment in water environment.
Prizes are awarded for outstanding projects
The 3rd Science Conference enabled students to apply what they have learned to solve real-world problems, conduct research, and gain a better understanding of their majors. It will also help them determine their research direction in the future.
