Seventeen teams participated in the qualifying rounds of the 2023 Social Venture Plan Showcase contest, and seven progressed to the finals on February 25th. The annual competition was first held in 2017 and all students from colleges and universities in the Central Region of Vietnam are eligible.
The “Collecting Tire Debris Electrostatically” project wins First prize
The competition aims to promote the Problem-Based Learning and Project-Based Learning methods, enabling participants to demonstrate their creativity, improve their self-confidence, teamwork and English skills. In preparation for international events, the event also identifies students with entrepreneurial qualities and enables them to connect with mentors, investors and business executives.
The teams
The Social Venture Plan also helps DTU students and others to plan their projects, practice their English and teamworking skills, and learn about their responsibilities in the community. Teams present the benefits of their projects completely in English and several of them turned out to be extremely practical and ready for implementation in real life situations.
The prizes awarded were:
- First prize went to the Dynamic Knights, for their “Collecting Tire Debris Electrostatically” project
- Second prize went to the Fresh Water team, for their “Environmental monitoring stations on rivers and seas using renewable energy” project
- Third prize went to the Midnight Thoughts team, with “HOME - Finding accommodation for the homeless”
Another outstanding project was entitled: “Psychological Communication and Counseling for Children”.
