At the same time, the city of Danang Peoples’ Committee has embarked upon a human resource development program for the private sector until 2030, with a vision to 2045, in a number of key fields and sectors. The decree details the development of an educational network that meets social demands, and specifies that, by 2030, there must be 36 vocational training institutions, including 18 colleges, 6 vocational high schools and 12 vocational training centers in Danang.
The plan is to have at least five top-quality vocational training institutions, one functioning as a national center for high-quality vocational training & practice and another four vocational training institutions with disciplines that meet regional and international standards. The vision to 2045 is to expand the network and strive for 20% of the schools and 30% of the disciplines to reach regional and international standards by that time. Meanwhile, colleges in the city continue to affirm their strengths in a variety of disciplines and plan to boost enrollment in 2023.
Mr. Nguyen Van Nhu, Director of the Center for Enrollment & Employment at the Danang Vocational Training College, stated that his college has the advantage of many years of experience in vocational training and that the 10th People’s Council of the city, from 2021 to 2026, had approved a resolution to increase investment in the his college from 285 billion VND to more than 330 billion VND. This will allow the college to become a national center for vocational training & practice, and currently, 75% of student programs are practically oriented, complete with specialized workshops and laboratories. In 2023, the college will enroll about 1,700 students at senior-high and college levels, concentrating on key international disciplines, including automobile technology, electromechanics and industrial electronics, courses at Asian standards in industrial electronics, industrial electrical installation & control and welding, and tour guide training according to local standards.
Similarly, the College of Food Industry of the Ministry of Agriculture & Rural Development will increase enrollment at junior-high, senior-high, and college levels in 23 disciplines, mainly concentrating on the food industry, food processing techniques, restaurant operations and environmentally hygienic agricultural production. Mr. Tran Hoang Dung, Director of the Center for Enrollment & Employment at the College of Food Industry, said that the choice of these specific disciplines was based on an assessment of the overall labor market in recent years. Graduates will be able to find jobs in restaurants, hotels or high-tech agriculture, in Danang or in other parts of Central Vietnam and the Central Highlands.
