Ten Significant DTU Achievements of 2022-2023

DTU lecturers consistently aim to improve the standard of education and prepare students to work globally, contributing to the advancement of Vietnamese higher education worldwide. DTU continually focuses on this premise, which over time has gained the university the increasing trust of the community.
 
Ten 2022-2023 DTU Achievements include:
 
Remaining ranked in the top 500 universities internationally by THE 2022, and listed in the top 145 Asian Universities in 2023, with a “Recognition of Improvement” award
   
In 2023, DTU retained its ranking in the Times Higher Education Top 500 universities internationally. In the 2023 QS World University rankings, DTU rose to the 801-1000 range, and to 145th in the 2022 QS Asian University rankings. At the Asia-Pacific QS Higher Ed Summit, DTU received a “2023 ASIA Recognition of Improvement” award, based on an in-depth evaluation of 7 out of 14 measurement criteria, including teaching, employability and internationalization.

35 Vietnamese Researchers Ranked amongst the 2022 Most Influential Scientists Worldwide
 
The Elsevier Publishing House compiled the world’s 100,000 most influential scientists, supported by a group of researchers led by Professor John P. A. Ioannidis from Stanford University, using Scopus data. Fourteen DTU researchers were included, most of whom improved on their 2021 rankings. In particular, Associate Professor Nguyen Dang Nam rose to 8,363, an increase of 63,294; Dr. Hoang Nhat Duc went up 8,229 positions from 23,301 last year; and Dr. Tran Nguyen Hai, rose to 991 from 14,704.  All three were ranked in the Top 35 most influential Vietnamese scientists worldwide in 2022.

Former South Korean Vice-Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Appointed Rector of DTU School of Hospitality and Tourism
 
Professor Mo Chul Min, former South Korean Vice-Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism was appointed Rector of the DTU School of Hospitality and Tourism. He chose to take up the new challenge because he was extremely impressed by the intelligence and dedication the Vietnamese students and the DTU development strategy. During his 35 years devoted to the development of South Korea, Professor Min held several  important positions in the South Korean government, including Director of the Department of Tourism Industry of the MCST; General Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Vice-Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Senior Secretary General to the President on Education, Culture, Sports & Tourism; and the South Korean Ambassador to France.

DTU Is Awarded Level 2 Educational Institution Accreditation
 
UNWTO.TedQual is considered the world’s leading accreditation standard, like AACSB, but specializing in Tourism and Hospitality. In July 2022, the DTU programs in International Hotel Management and in International Restaurant Operations Management were accredited with a score of 771/845 points, meeting 91% of the criteria. DTU became the first accredited Vietnamese university, with validity of 3 years. 
In November 2022, DTU was awarded a Level 2 Educational Institution accreditation for 5 years by the Centre for Education Accreditation of the Association of Viet Nam Universities and Colleges.

A K28 DTU Valedictorian scores 29.5 and with many other national athletes chooses to study at DTU 
 
In 2022, enrolled applicants with excellent High School Graduation Exam grades and others who won medals and broke records at national competitions and the SEA Games. Dinh Thi Hoai Nhi chose International Relations, with the highest HSGE exam score of 29.5, and seven others with high HSGE results enrolled in each of the seven DTU schools, also receiving scholarships. 
 
- Talented swimmer Nguyen Huu Kim Son won gold medals at the SEA Games in 2017 and 2022
- Female kickboxer Pham Thi Mai Lan won a gold in the 2020 National Kickboxing Championship
- Female kickboxer Le Thi Nhi won a bronze at the 2022 SEA Games
- Le Khac Anna won the Style award at the 2022 Miss Ao Dai Vietnam Beauty Pageant, speaks five languages and is an accomplished singer and pianist  
 
At the 2022-2023 opening ceremony, DTU awarded 385 full and partial scholarships, totaling 21.5 billion dong, to incent selected incoming students in their studies, and also reduced fees by 10.2 million dong for K28 students.

DTU Offers Doctoral programs in three fields in Physics in 2022
 
The Ministry of Education & Training has authorized DTU to offer Doctoral programs in Theoretical & Mathematical Physics, Solid-State Physics and Atomic & Nuclear Physics in 2022. This affirms the strong capabilities of the teams of researchers and lecturers working in an infrastructure architected to educate post-graduates in three very distinctive fields of Physics at the same time. The main participants in the three PhD programs are full-time researchers from the Institute of Theoretical & Applied Research (ITAR) in Hanoi, the Institute for Research & Development (IRD) in Danang, and the Institute of Fundamental Science & Application (IFSA) in HCMC.

DTU Lecturer Honored in the Forbes Vietnam Under 30 List in 2022
 
In February, the Forbes Vietnam magazine announced its 2022 “Under 30” list, with the theme: “The Lights of Hope”, honoring Dr. Huynh Le Thai Bao for his social activities. Dr. Bao is a doctor from the DTU School of Medicine and Pharmacy, founder and Chairman of the Medical Volunteer Club, leader of the “Online Medicine Ecosystem” project and editorial secretary of the journal and website of the Vietnamese Association of Diabetes and Endocrinology. In 2021 Dr. Thai Bao was awarded a VinIF scholarship to study for a PhD in Internal Medicine at the Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy.

DTU Students Win First Prize at the 2022 Hackathon 2022 and Second Prize at the Arab Security Cyber Wargames in Egypt
 
At Hackathon 2022, DTU won first prize with their project “A graphic neural network and computer vision application to try on clothing remotely on e-commerce platforms”. The app enables customers to choose suitable clothing online to save time and avoid returning them damaged. In 2022, the ISITDTU team also won second prize at the Arab Security Cyber Wargames, which was part of the Arab Security Conference attended by network security experts and consultants, business information security personnel and IT students from all over the world.

The First Graduation of the DTU General Practitioner Class
 
After seven years of studies, the first Medical Practitioner class of the DTU College of Medicine & Pharmacy graduated all the students with honors. The curriculum and materials are based on those from the University of Illinois in Chicago (UIC), which has the broadest range of Medicine & Pharmacy programs in the US, and from the University of Pittsburgh, ranked seventh in the top 15 research universities in the US. The students were also actively supported by the Hue Central Hospital.

First DTU General Practitioner Graduates
 
New twenty-story building at 3 Quang Trung Danang is opened
 
In 2022, DTU opened its new twenty-story building in central Danang. The building consists of several spacious offices, classrooms and practice rooms full of the latest equipment, the best in Central Vietnam, and students of the American degree and Hospitality Advanced & High-Quality programs, and becomes part of the group of five neighboring DTU campuses.
