On March 7, the DTU Hospitality & Tourism Institute held a field trip to the Ariyana Convention Center for first-year students majoring in Event & Entertainment Management.
The Ariyana Convention Center (ACC), the first and only oceanfront convention center in Vietnam, is owned by Sovico Holdings and managed by Furama Resort Danang. The ACC features a flexible and large auditorium, a large exhibition foyer, and 6 function rooms catering to up to 2,500 people.

Located to the south of Furama Resort Danang and Furama Villas Danang, the Ariyana Convention Centre is part of the Ariyana Danang Tourism Complex with an area of 27 hectares and, in the future, the ACC will include the 1,400-room Ariyana Beach Resort & Suites to become the largest convention and exhibition complex in Vietnam. The ACC was selected to hold the 25th APEC Economic Leaders’ Week in 2017, welcoming more than 15,000 delegates, 6,000 international and domestic media agencies, and 21 heads of state from 21 APEC member economies.
During the field trip, an ACC representative shared lots of information about job opportunities, work experience, the operational process of some departments at the ACC, and recruitment criteria. After the field trip, students could get real-world experience and learn what they should study to meet the requirements of the regional and domestic labor markets and be qualified for their future jobs.

Truong Thi Nhat Thi, a student of K27DSG, said: “I feel very lucky to visit the ACC while I am still a first-year student. This field trip was very interesting and useful for my classmates and me because we could gain more knowledge and acquire a deep understanding of the jobs we are pursuing. Especially, ACC representatives welcomed us enthusiastically and shared many useful working stories with us. Listening to their advice, I feel that I love the major I am studying even more and am getting motivated to develop myself more. Hopefully, I will be able to come back and it would be wonderful to become an ACC employee.”
Dang Quoc Minh, a student of K27DSG, said: “As a tourism student, I feel very lucky to participate in the DTU Hospitality & Tourism Institute’s field trip to the ACC. After the trip, I now know more about types of events, the process of working with clients, and how to study my subjects and learn soft skills to meet the needs of employers.”
