A Female Student from the Philippines enrolls in Strategic Marketing program at DTU

Frances Summer Dale V. Dy is a new and energetic DTU student from the Philippines. Recently, she enrolled in the Strategic Marketing program at DTU to familiarize herself with international marketing conditions and realize her dream of earning a Bachelor's degree in Marketing.

Interested in extra-curricular activities

In high school, Summer participated in several extracurricular activities, including Debating Club competitions.

She also joined in the Boy Scouts of the Philippines, went camping and attended youth forums and team leader training courses. She was appointed Vice-President of the Rotary Scout Club, posted some articles on the school website and was elected to the Student Representative committee.

Summer also entered the Division Mathematics contest and won the TAPSA Academic Competition (an English Quiz & Bee). She won a third prize in 7th and 10th grades and a first in the 8th and 9th grades.

Summer said: “As well as taking part in community activities, I was also interested in marketing management, so I spent time studying several subjects, including Organization and Management, Business Mathematics and Applied Economics. I would like to learn more about marketing and make a career in this field.”

After graduating from high school, Summer and her family left the Philippines for Vietnam. They lived in Dalat for a year before moving to Danang. Summer had continued volunteer activities there, worked part-time in a small restaurant and earned an Associate degree in the General Academic Strand, a distance training program run by the Victory Elijah Christian College the Philippines.

Knows DTU, thanks to her mother

Summer added: “When I moved to Danang with my family, I decided to apply for a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing. My mother used to work at DTU, so she knew it well and advised me to enroll there. However, she told me to visit DTU and then compare its Marketing courses with other schools. I finally decided to choose DTU because of its dynamic study environment and advanced teaching methods. There are also many Filipino students studying here. I am looking forward to joining the Marketing Management and Strategy major, my favorite, which is part of the DTU Talent program.”

Summer is confident that she will soon adapt to the academic environment and get to know her lecturers and classmates. Fortunately, she has now lived in Vietnam for 2 years and is already able to communicate well in Vietnamese.

Summer said: "My first semester at DTU has been very interesting. At first, I was a bit concerned because this was the first time I had studied in an international environment. I am enthused by the friendliness of my lecturers and the other students and enjoy the lectures so much that I always look forward to going to school.”

After graduation, Summer plans to stay in Vietnam and look for a full-time job, so she spends extra time studying Vietnamese language, the people, the culture and customs to broaden her future career opportunities.
