The 2018 National Youth Science and Technology Conference for Medical and Pharmaceutical Universities and Colleges took place at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City from May 17 to 19. Researchers from 27 medical and pharmaceutical universities and colleges around the country participated.

The conference is run every two years by the Ministry of Health and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee and aims to encourage attendees to do conduct research projects and share experiences, new methods and findings. 103 of the 183 the papers submitted were recognized for their high quality. Two first prizes were awarded to Mr. Nguyen Tat Cuong of DTU, with his paper entitled “A systematic review and meta-analysis of the impact of e-Health on smoking cessation interventions” and Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan Huong of DTU, with her paper entitled “Customer attitude towards the nutritious facts labeled on a restaurant menu in Vietnam”. The DTU Youth Union received a Certificate of Merit for its impressive research achievements between 2016 and 2018.
Mr. Nguyen Tat Cuong said: “We collected data from 4,000 smoking cessation related articles using e-Health. Then, we evaluated and made comparisons of the impacts of e-Health interventions based on the website and smartphone applications. We will continue researching and will design an app with several features, including scheduled reminders and detailed information and advice on how to quit smoking.”

Mr. Nguyen Tat Cuong’s paper is currently being reviewed for publication in the ISI journal and Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan Huong’s has already been published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health.
The Danang Technical University of Medicine and Pharmacy was awarded a third prize.
