The DTU BeeTech team’s project is an app called the Smart Car Box. It is integrated a car and continually collects data on its status, which is relayed to the driver’s smartphone. Whenever the car encounters an unusual situation, the Smart Car Box will scan the issue, suggest ways of rectifying it or recommend taking the vehicle into the garage.

The software is adapted for multi-platform use and can be installed on various brands of smartphones. It can also be configured to remind the user to perform regular maintenance and uses Xamarin software to guarantee the car always maintains optimal performance. In the case of an accident, the box automatically notifies emergency services of the location for a timely response.

“In Danang the traffic density is increasing rapidly with the demand for new cars. Just a few years ago, there were very few on the road but today we all suffer from serious traffic jams, noise pollution, accidents and driver fatigue. Inspired by the smart cars being developed in several other countries, the Smart Car Box is our way of improving  safety and avoiding traffic accidents.”, said Le Viet Trieu from DTU International School.

Mr. Vo Duc Toan, Director of the DTU Microsoft Innovation Center, said: “The Microsoft Imagine Cup is a stimulating environment for students to exchange information which allows them to demonstrate their creative ideas through practical projects. The DTU Microsoft Innovation Center develops software applications for Microsoft Vietnam and helps students perfect their ideas using highly efficient technologies, such as  IoT, Azure and Windows 10 IoT.”
