A Workshop on Urban & Heritage Design and Sustainable Development

On April 13, DTU and the Hanoi Architectural University (HAU) held a workshop on Urban & Heritage Design and Sustainable Development. HAU Master of Architecture students went on a 4-day field trip to the Nam O Village in the Lien Chieu district of Danang and reported on an ecotourism project being developed by a five-star hotel with entertainment facilities, that is unfortunately knowingly blocking the public path to the beach. They proposed some ways of preserving and protecting historic sites and developing local tourism guidelines.

Dr. Le Vinh An, Dean of the DTU Faculty of Architecture, said: “The Hanoi Architectural University partners with the Toulouse National School of Architecture in France and DTU. Master’s degree students can solve practical problems, such as the planning of Nam O Village. This is also the first time that DTU students have teamed up with the Hanoi Architectural University, when they will become familiar with French study methods and gain experience conducting field surveys, in preparation for their future careers”

The HAU students produced plans for the Nam O Fishing village. Dr. Le Vinh An announced that the reports would be compiled into a paper and submitted to the local authorities in order to bring the current situation under control.
