Vietnam’s economy is developing steadily, with many new multinational businesses emerging. At the same time, their economic requirements are diversifying because of evolving partnerships and competition, so the study of Economic Law is more important than ever. Companies all need to understand current legislation to expand effectively.
DTU students taking part in a Moot Court
DTU announced a new major in Economic Law in 2015 to increase the supply of experts in this field. Due to continuing heavy demand, the university will be enrolling even more students in 2018.
Law graduates are now increasingly in demand to play a vital role in interpreting laws for business startups, then to develop an economic strategy to ensure asset security. Vietnam recently joined the WTO, APEC and CPTPP (the original TPP) so Vietnamese companies are facing with increasing opportunities and challenges, and this gives Economic Law graduates a chance to refine their professional skills.
Law graduates are provided with excellent job opportunities as Consultants, who analyze, assess and solve business problems and ensure that operations are in line with both local and international guidelines, or with jobs as Legislative, Executive or Judicial Officers, Financial Advisors or Economic Law researchers and lecturers, Paralegals or working for Legal Services companies.
To teach prospective lawyers, DTU has assembled a lecturing team consisting of one Associate Professor, two PhDs and five Masters, all graduates of well-known universities. DTU also partners with some leading Vietnamese universities, including the Hanoi Law University, the HCMC University of Law and the HCMC University of Economics and Law, whose lecturers are invited to teach at DTU. Students also have access to multimedia and legal practice rooms, the Center for Socioeconomic Research and the Center for Legal Consulting.
DTU applies the PBL (Problem-Based Learning / Project-Based Learning) teaching model, which is an advanced method used in teaching Economic Law in many universities worldwide. In addition, the university has created an in-depth curriculum, including seminars and Moot Courts, where students learn about the practical work of a lawyer and become experienced in court procedures while still at university.
Graduates already have a basic knowledge of economics and a sound understanding of economic legal matters when they begin working and continue to develop the soft skills of negotiation, communication, presentation, teamwork and special English terminology to provide them with the confidence necessary to find jobs and to practice and broaden their skills in an international business environment.
In addition to Economic Law, DTU will also open a major in Law, specializing in Criminal law, Civil law, and Administrative law
In 2018 enrollment season, DTU will continue to grant special preferential scholarships to Economic Law students:
- Talent Scholarships, twenty per major, for applicants in Economic Law with a High School Graduation Exam three-course grade average of 24 or higher (full scholarship) or 22 or higher (partial scholarship).
