Study Road and Bridge Construction with Employment Guaranteed on Graduation

Danang has been called for many years now “the most livable city in Vietnam”, but has also recently become known as the “City of Bridges”.

DTU signs agreements with American universities, then students win awards in national and international competitions

The unique and safe designs of the Han River, Dragon, Tran Thi Ly and Thuan Phuoc bridges all contribute to the fresh image of this modern, pleasant city on the banks of the Han River. Dynamic and creative bridge and road construction engineering graduates will construct new, beautiful buildings and roads in Danang to give the city a new look, while DTU will continue to enroll applicants into the Road and Bridge Construction major in 2018.

DTU partners with several well-known universities worldwide, predominately in the USA, to improve the quality of education by offering the first, joint, advanced international programs in the Central region of Vietnam. These institutions include California State University in Fullerton and Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, the two leading universities on the American West Coast in the field of Architecture and Construction. 18 to 21 subjects have already been transferred to DTU for students to learn all about the latest developments in the construction industry and then receive an American international certificate on graduation.

Students of Road and Bridge Construction majors receive in-depth training focused on design and implementation. In addition to the basic subjects, students will study:

- The structure of bridges, roads and tunnels in both urban and rural environments.

- Methods of designing, building, managing and repairing roads and bridges.

Students are taught using the CDIO (Conceive - Design - Implement - Operate) methodology, meanwhile developing other professional skills in teamwork, communications and presentation.

Graduates work as managers, designers, inspectors and surveyors for construction engineering companies, for government agencies, such as the Department of Transport, the Department of Planning and Investment, and for financial, real estate and supplies companies.

Over the past ten years, the DTU Faculty of Civil Engineering has graduated one thousand engineers who now hold important positions in companies nationwide, such as Vice-Director of the Dak Nong Construction Department; Technical manager of the 501 Investment Construction Company; Deputy Head of the Board of the Dong Ha Project Management Investment and Construction Unit, in Quang Tri Province and as Site Managers, Lead Designers and so on.

All DTU Construction Engineering graduates over the last three years have been employed immediately, due to the shortage of experienced professionals in this sector.

Civil Engineering students have won major awards, including first-place in the 2010 Loa Thanh Civil Engineering Tournament and three second prizes, nine thirds and a consolation prize. They also came first in the Asia-Pacific Regional IDEERS Champions Cup at the IDEERS convention in 2014 and third in 2013 and 2015. Other major awards were won at National Olympiad of Mechanics, Physics and Mathematics.

In 2018, DTU will continue to grant special preferential scholarships to students enrolling in Road and Bridge Construction, including:

- A 15% reduction of first-year tuition fees for Road and Bridge Construction students with high grades and early enrollment.

- DTU scholarships of 1 to 5 million vnd for Road and Bridge Construction applicants with a High School Graduation Exam three-course grade average at least three points higher than the minimal admissions grade.

- Scholarships from 500,000 to 2 million vnd for applicants in Road and Bridge Construction with a High School transcript of 22 points or more.

- Scholarships for students from Gifted High Schools, worth 5 million vnd each for the first year, for all applicants in Road and Bridge Construction with a High School Graduation Exam three-course grade average of 18 points or with a High School transcript of 22 or more.

- Direct enrollment preferential scholarships, worth 5 million vnd each for the first year, for applicants in Road and Bridge Construction who won consolation prizes in National Skilled Student contests or a National Science and Technology contest.
