On October 14th and 15th, the DTU Labor Union held its 8th congress for 2017 to 2022 for DTU staff and lecturers to review and evaluate the results of the last congress and set out their objectives and solutions for 2017-2022.

The DTU Trade Union is one of 11 private university members of the Danang Labor Union. 74% of DTU lecturers hold post-graduate degrees and 9.5% have PhDs. DTU has reached the annual enrollment target of the Ministry of Education and Training, with the support of DTU Board, staff and lecturers. International partnerships, with well-known universities in the USA, the UK, Japan, Singapore and Taiwan and close relationships with more than 500 major companies, have raised the graduate employment rate to 90%.
The DTU Trade Union especially encourages and facilitates DTU lecturers to modernize their teaching methods and conduct more research. 34 research projects were sponsored at the city level and above, 2 projects sponsored by foreign countries, 1,787 research papers published in ISSN journals, with 596 in ISI journals and Scopus. In addition, DTU officially became the first private university in Vietnam to receive a Certificate of National Education Quality, on February 20th. Dr. Le Nguyen Bao, DTU Vice-provost, is one of 20 leading academics honored for his active involvement in promoting the city’s science and technology sector between 1997 and 2017.
Thanks to the DTU Board and the hard work of the Trade Union, the lives the lecturers and staff have improved considerably. For example, their average 2016 income was $7,000. Next year, the Union will continue to protect and advance the interests of the lecturers and staff and make a positive contribution to establishing DTU as one of the top 300 Asian universities.
With the support of the DTU Trade Union, the university was honored to receive a Government Recognition Award for its high achievements last term. In particular, DTU was awarded a Class 2 Labor Medal, presented by the State President, and Distinguished Teacher Le Cong Co, the “Hero of Labor”, became one of the 20 leading citizens of Danang, in commemoration of its 20th anniversary as a centrally-governed city.

Dr. Vo Thanh Hai, DTU Vice-Provost said: “The DTU Trade Union, together with the university, have dedicated themselves to making DTU the prestigious educational institution it is today. In the future, the Union should make every effort to help DTU enter the list of the top 300 Asian universities.”
Fifteen representatives were voted onto the new executive board for the next term. Mr. Hoang Huu Nghi, Vice-present of the Danang Labor Union, congratulated the DTU Trade Union on its significant achievements over the years and hoped that the DTU Trade Union will continue working to win the continuing trust and expectations of the DTU Board, Provosts, lecturers and staff.
