For students to follow and participate in discussions and express their opinions, DTU created five parallel working sessions, each devoted to teaching disciplines. These were in Health Sciences; Environmental Studies, Construction and Architecture; Electricity, Electronics and Information Technology; Social Sciences, Humanities and Foreign Languages; and Economics and Hospitality. 81 reports were made on diverse topics, ranging from key social issues in society to more internal ones, such as teaching and studying at DTU. Five of the best reports were selected for presentation at the plenary session of the Student Research Conference.

The head of the Department of Science and Technology Transfer Management, Dr. Nguyen Duc Hien said: “Research enables students refine their knowledge, exchange ideas and develop their soft skills. The progress students made is demonstrated very clearly by their project choices and how they invest their time performing their research. Although some deficiencies still remain, I am confident that, with hard work, DTU lecturers and students will quickly overcome them.”

Five first prizes went to the projects: Creating an app to support transactions between sellers and transporters on the Android OS, by Tran Minh Thien of the Faculty of Information Technology, A study of the effect of sea acidification near Quang Tri and Thua Thien-Hue, by Le Thi Dieu of the Faculty of the Environment, A study of the factors influencing the decision to buy luxury apartments in Danang, by a group of students of the Faculty of Business Administration, A study of the perception of their DTU International Relations major, by Vo Tat Thanh of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, and an Emotional Intelligence (EQ) survey of Nursing students, by Phan Thi Suong of the Faculty of General Nursing. Six second and six third prizes were awarded to other students from the various faculties.

Phan Thi Suong talked about her “Emotional Intelligence (EQ) survey of DTU Nursing students”. “In addition to professional qualifications, the ability to control one’s emotions when dealing with patients is vital in nursing,” she explained. “This is why I chose to conduct an EQ project. I would like to present my sincere thanks to the Board of Provosts and to the Faculty of Nursing for their help in creating the environment that allows us to do research and to be well-prepared for our new careers.”

Distinguished Teacher Le Cong Co said: “If we want students to engage in research, then lecturers should participate also. This sets an example and also provides the experience to improve student research. As a result, the close ties between students, lecturers and business enhance student research capabilities. In this era of international integration, a strong education the surest way to self-improvement and a developed society. DTU lecturers should all make even more effort in their studies and research, in order to deliver valuable products to the community and improve people’s lives.”
