The emoticons Binh Minh designs help young Vietnamese to express their feelings

Minh’s collection of emoticons is modeled after a cat character in a comic book that Minh designed and authored himself. He used a clever combination of skillful stylized drawings using Photoshop, in white, black, orange and grey colors. Minh highly diverse and expressive emoticons are both wicked and weird. His pictures allow young people to create emoticons to express their personalities and states of mind, from happy to sad, angry, weepy or lovely, using the Noizi app.

“Graphic Design is my passion, and I want to design comic books or animated movies.” said Minh. “To realize my dream, I want to study hard and exercise my skills under the guidance of my teachers at the DTU Art Studio.  I want to work on graphics projects, to continue improving my skills. Designing emoticons with the Noizi app is the first contest I have taken part in, and this prize will motivate me to enter other contests with confidence.”

On July 15th, DOTA2 Vietnam and the entire international gaming community were awestruck when Artwork, a design by Bui Xuan Tai, dedicated to his favorite team, was chosen as the official logo of the Ukrainian DOTA2 NaVi team on social networks. DOTA2 NaVi is a famous gaming team which regularly wins championships. With advanced educational programs, built around the Industrial and Traditional Graphic Arts Design programs from Singapore Polytechnic, DTU’s Graphic Design major consists of four main tracks: Graphic Design, the Games Industry, Film Making and Web Design. It is one of DTU’s most popular majors, attracting a large number of new students every year. To meet the needs of its ambitious students, DTU continues to invest in a highly-developed infrastructure and technology, such as highly-configurable computers, big projector rooms, 3D and modeling labs, use of the most advanced software currently available, Pro Tools, 3DS Max, 3D Maya and Zbrush, and, in particular, the development of the Silver Swallows Studio, specialized in the production of movies combining 2D and 3D.

By learning in a well-developed educational program, taught by professional artists in the university’s workshops and studios, many of DTU’s Graphic Design students have already demonstrated outstanding ability. Nguyen Thi Kieu Tien won a first prize in Graphic Design at the Danang Professional Skills Contest and a consolation prize at the National Professional Skills contest in Hanoi in 2014. Nguyen Phan Anh Tuan won third prize in Graphics Design at the 2014 Danang Professional Skills Contest.
