DTU Wins Three Consolation Prizes at the 13th Danang Technical Innovation Contest

On May 14th, the Closing Ceremony of the 13th Danang Technical Innovation Contest of 2014-2015 was held at the Danang People’s Committee office. DTU won three consolation prizes, with practical products using the latest advanced technology.

35 organizations participated with 100 projects. DTU participated for the first time and won an impressive three prizes for the projects “The research, design and development of a handheld parking ticket dispenser, using RFID technology”, “The design and development of a security control device with an integrated camera, display, fingerprint reader and RFID card reader in an embedded system” and “The research, design, and development of a multifunctional automatic gauze folding and rolling machine”. These research projects were all implemented by Tran Le Thang Dong and Dang Ngoc Sy, with research staff from the DTU Center of Electricity and Electronics (CEE).

The projects were selected by Danang to represent 3 out of 20 at the 13th National Technical Innovation Contest. The “Research, design, and development of a handheld parking ticket dispenser using RFID technology” was outstanding. It used an ATMega microcontroller with application software to display information on an LCD screen and serves as a completely new and efficient solution for parking management in Vietnam. With this achievement, DTU has become a national leader in the number and quality of prize-winning solutions developed.
 
“Our achievements at the 13th Technical Innovation Contest at the local and national level will motivate us to continue our research,” said Dr. Nguyen Duc Hien, Head of the DTU Department of Science and Technology Transfer Management. “With our highly specialized staff and lecturers, our modern technical infrastructure and close collaborations with research institutes, universities and business in Vietnam and abroad, I believe that our research capability will grow stronger day-by-day. We will produce many innovative products to improve the standard of living in our community.”
