Achievements

DTU won the 2016 National Go-Green-In-The-City Championship, which took place on May 19th and 20th at Schneider Electric Vietnam. They won 20 million vnd and became the only Vietnamese team to enter the Asian finals in June. Nguyen Cong Duc and Huynh Minh Trang defeated six other teams from well-known national universities, all well-known for technology and business administration studies.

 

  

Go-Green-in-the-City by Schneider Electric is an international business contest to encourage engineering students to develop ideas for the intelligent energy management of “smart cities”. Go-Green-in-the-City gives contestants a clearer understanding of the global energy challenge and encourages them to partner with their counterparts worldwide to become leaders of the future energy market. The contest is part of Schneider Electric’s global program to identify and train talented technology and business students.

So far the contest has attracted students of all levels from all over the world. The teams consist of two contestants, one of whom must be female, who present their research papers on creative energy management solutions in one of five basic urban areas. In 2015, there were 12,800 participants from 168 countries.

 

Ten teams were selected by Schneider Electric from fifty in the qualifying round. Seven of them will go on to the National finals. The Vietnamese winners will compete with nine others in the Asian Finals on June 10th. In September, the top twelve international teams will go to Paris, where they will compete for a trip around the world and careers at Schneider Electric.

The two DTU students Nguyen Cong Duc, from the K18 Pharmacy class and Huynh Minh Trang, from the K20 PSU class in the International School won the 6th National Final Round  with their project “A solution for Eco-friendly shrimp farming with zero water replacement”, beating six strong teams, GreenStorm from the Ho Chi Minh University of Technology, Renolight from the Foreign Trade University Ho Chi Minh City, Celeb Twinners from the Ho Chi Minh University of Technology and the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Ho Chi Minh City, Initiative from the Ho Chi Minh University of Technology and the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City, Ocean Power from the Ho Chi Minh University of Technology and the Foreign Trade University Ho Chi Minh City, and Clean Energy from the Hanoi University of Pharmacy and the Hanoi University of Science and Technology. Their project was overseen by Dr. Tran Nhat Tan and his colleagues. They intend to create a new, clean and sustainable shrimp farming method.

These achievements are proof of the quality of the advanced education tools available at DTU, such as CDIO, and PBL, as well as the international skills and English ability of the contestants.
