In the morning of December 20, 2014, DTU held a gathering to mark the 70 years of the traditional day of the Vietnam People’s Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22 2014), and the 25 years of National Defense Day (December 22, 1989 - December 22, 2014). On this occasion, the army veterans that are now staff, lecturers, or students at the university looked back at the people’s proud history together.
Mr Tran Hong Phong reviewed the glorious traditions of the Vietnam People’s Army
In the warm and friendly atmosphere of the gathering, Mr Tran Hong Phong - Dean of the Faculty of Political Theory - together with the veterans, reviewed the glorious traditions of our soldiers and people in the two wars: against the French colonizers and against the American imperialist invaders. Those were times of arduous struggle, but also of indomitable resistance everywhere in the fatherland for the independence of our country under the leadership of great Chairman Ho Chi Minh and of General Vo Nguyen Giap - the most talented and eminent military commander of the 20th century.
On behalf of DTU Board of Provosts, Vice-Provost Dr Nguyen Huu Phu wished all a happy day of the glorious traditions of the Vietnam People’s Army. The development of DTU through the past years is not in small part thanks to people who used to be soldiers. Dr Nguyen Huu Phu also expressed the wish that the veterans continue spreading the heroic traditions of the soldier and that they continue contributing to building an ever stronger Duy Tan University.

Mixed with the sincere regards, the wishes for good health, and the happy smiles, were the compassionate moments when the veterans reminisced about their comrades’ brave sacrifices for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland. The gathering was also an opportunity for younger veterans to express their gratitude and to study in the footsteps of the generations that went before.
