DTU students win high prizes at the 2014 National Karatedo and Badminton Tournament

Although this was the first time DTU attended the 2014 National Karatedo and Badminton Tournament for pupils and students, DTU won one silver and two bronze medals in Badminton and two bronze medals in Karatedo.

The National Karatedo and Badminton Tournament is a traditional tournament held at Danang University of Physical Education and Sports by the Vietnamese Sports Association of Universities. The tournament attracted 39 teams with more than 200 players from universities, colleges and vocational schools throughout the country. The Karate-Do contest includes the two disciplines - Kata and Kumite for individuals and teams. The Badminton contest includes a team tournament and individual ones such as men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles and women’s doubles.

DTU students tried their best competing for more than a week and achieved many prizes including one bronze medal in the women’s individual Kata, a bronze medal in the men’s individual Kumite (65kg), and in the Badminton contest one silver medal in the women’s teams, one bronze medal in the women’s individuals, and one medal in the men’s teams.

Tran Cao Duong, a student of class K18 KKT1, winning the men’s individual Kumite said: “Since I was a pupil of elementary school, I have been learning and spending time practicing Karatedo. When I participated in the Karatedo Club of DTU, I have been trained more professionally. In order to prepare for the tournament, I have spent one month practicing hard according to the instructions of members in DTU. The tournament gives me an opportunity to show my capability, exchange ideas and make more friends from many provinces throughout the country.

Continuously succeeding in many contests, DTU students more and more affirm their talent and confidence.
