With their creativity and dedication, contestants in the 22nd Informatics Olympiad for Vietnamese students and the 38th ACM International Collegiate Programming contest (ACM/ICPC) won many valuable prizes. The awards ceremony, which was held on the evening of November 29th at the Queen’s Palace in Danang, was a festival for those who love to share their hopes with each other and honor IT talent.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Hong, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Communications, congratulated DTU on its success in organizing the 22nd Olympiad in Informatics for Vietnamese students and the 38th ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ACM/ICPC). He confirmed that the contests had helped to contribute to the evolution of a highly-qualified workforce and to the acceleration of development in IT the region.

High-spirited, innovative teams of DTU students reaped several big awards in the specialized and non- specialized Informatics category. Van Quoc Nguyen and Phan Pham Phu An came in second, Nguyen Tran Viet Chuong, Truong Ngo Truong Huy, Pham Cong Toan and Duong Y Nguyen came third and Tran Tien and Lai Duy Hoang Vu won consolation prizes. The organizers awarded a second-place prize (the highest in the contest) to DTU in the Programming Open-Source Software Applications contest. Other outstanding students and teams from 71 universities and colleges nationwide were also presented with valuable prizes.
Pham Cong Toan, a DTU IT student, who won third prize in the Open-Source Software section, said:
"The Informatics Olympiad for Vietnamese students is a big opportunity for students nationwide to build their creative and innovative skills by creating new software. DTU students were very determined and very happy with their accomplishments. DTU has been focusing on IT training and DTU and Carnegie Mellon University, one of the four leading American universities in IT, have signed an agreement for the licensing of Software Engineering, Information Systems and Network Security curricula to DTU. I believe that this is a sound investment by the DTU Board of Management and I am sure that DTU students will win even more prizes in the future.”
The 22nd Olympiad in Informatics for Vietnamese students and the 38th ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ACM/ICPC) ended joyfully for all. These talented students will be critical to the acceleration of Vietnamese IT development. More contests like these should be held for students to sharpen their problem-solving and computer skills.
